Mahou Sentai MagiRanger ~Magical Talk Stage~(thoughts and opinions)

I am not really bothering to read the other posts in this thread(no offense to anyone I just don't feel like reading I HATE MAGI IT RUINED SENTAI crap). That said. I freaking love magiranger. It is one of the best of the last 10 years if not the best.

Actually, there's only been two or three posters expressing a distaste for Magiranger; the majority have otherwise expressed a great fondness for Magiranger. And yes, Magiranger is pretty freaking sweet.

About to watch Stage 19, and still loving it. It's nice how the character development focuses on the different relationships between the siblings, and how they overcome their personal problems to grow closer. the "1 new spell an episode" formula also works for me, as it shows how their improvement in magic is gradual and realistic, as it would be if they were learning anything else that took time and effort.

Also, Wolzard and Vancuria are definitely great villains that go about things in different and unique ways, and both are entertaining

I'm glad that the MagiPunch hasn't been a one-off thing, because it's definitely one of the more unique weapons in sentai

edit: fixed my typos. it's kinda tough to type in the dark

Magiranger's approach to character development is definitely something that sets it apart; by focusing on two characters at a time, it creates a "greater than the sum of its parts" effect that gives each episode more depth and significance than would otherwise be the case.

One of the things I like about Wolzard is how he grows as a threat, but the narrative never expressly calls this out the way, say, Gekiranger did with regard to Rio and Mele. I mean, you have Wolzard stealing the power from the Magirangers to create WolKaiser, and after that gets defeated, he spends four episodes powering up almost non-stop. And Vancuria is really great; all that immortality, and yet, so very lonely. Also, evil.

It doesn't happen quite as often as I'd like, but there are a fair few number of spells that get reused as the appropriate situations arise.

Being from a family of four myself, I tend to like the family sentai shows.

As the youngest of the four, I particularly appreciate Magi's take. ;)

Magiranger's 1 of my favorite sentai.

It was my 1st series, the one that got me into sentai, and the only series I've re-watched again.

I can't find anything I dislike about this really... I love everything so much. Tsubasa and Hikaru were so cute too...

They were. Chalk that up as another point in its favour for me :anime:

Magiranger is my least favourite Sentai but I wouldn't say "it ruined Sentai," at all. Its viewing figures were high (higher than Shinkenger's, which Toei considered a great success) and as far as I know so were its sales

It's weird that a lot of people didn't like the series, but for me, it was one of those memorable Sentai series due to its theme. I loved the suit designs, the mecha combinations (since I appreciate symmetrical color positions), the awesome villains, and the characters themselves.

Being a 6th-ranger fan, Magishine comes as my third favorite, with Dekabreak as my first and Burai as my second.
