Letters From Iwo Jima

uuumm.... you should feel even more guilty for thinking they weren't!
What just happened right here was classic hollywood brainwashing
But it's just a perspective though a very flawed one imo, history however has been a much more harsher and fair judge in regard to the Japanese and their role in the Pacific War.

True, but at the time of the war, many of the jpn citizens did not actually know what was going on.
I find that to be absolutely ridiculous given that several of the war crimes trials for junior officers used their own words from japanese newspaper accounts where they told of the number of civilians, they killed or bayoneted.

Also if you read stories like barefoot gen, you'ld see that many of the soldiers were basically forced into service, and were in horrible living conditions and such.
Those internal dynamics of resentment and abuse made them ripe for committing atrocities.

I saw it when I was going to Japan (on the plane). Best friggin' war movie I've ever seen.

I haven't seen Flags of our Fathers, but I wouldn't bother anyway, lol.

I have it on DVD for quite some time. I've been meaning to re-watch it, but I haven't gotten to it yet. :disappoin

Japanese weren't fighting because they were evil goblins. They fought because they loved their country.

That's true for everyone in almost every war. We perceive the enemy as evil but the enemy has their reasons and are just as human as you or me. Must. Stay Tongue. Dont want to rant..

Something i thought i would never do, watching a war movie and especialy those from World War 2. Like many people around asia my Family in Indonesia have been attacked by the Japanese to.
As i grow i know that our generations have to work more on peace then war. Yet those thing in the past should never be forgotten.

Shouldn't this be in the General Discussion forum? It's not exclusively a Japanese production...it was released in the US.

Anyways...Nino!

No you're not and don't worry about it. HJU has a policy where you don't have to worry about dupe threads. Just post and enjoy, man. :anime:

So, did you see Letters From Iwo Jima?

This might be one of the few movies that'll make me cry, from what I'm hearing.

Must...seee...Any torrents out that are good?

Just buy it, not like it's that expensive.

I thought it was a pretty good movie, but from a lot of what I've read, it was sorta inaccurate as a historical piece and I definitely liked Flags of our Fathers better, but this movie did make me a Nino fan.

This movie's too good to torrent and we don't allow that here for official releases.

It's worth a buy and definately worth a rental.

I liked it far more than Flags of Our Fathers.
