KyuKyu Sentai GoGo V - Talk Up!

He proves that he's badass in the first 10 seconds of GoGo V, going head on into a fire with barely any oxygen in his tank, and carrying 3 people out, by HIMSELF. He follows 'Save the Lives' to a T.

Well, look who Matoi learned from. (That crazy Kudo guy from episode 41 played by Claude Maki, Mike "Mondo" Maki's actual son, which I thought was a pretty cool touch.)

I love that one episode where the four siblings are irritated by Matoi's training schedule, and try to justify their excluding him when they all went out for a fancy meal. Matoi was a different kind of Red in that he's mostly a smart-ass and a hot-head, but he's still a good and dependable leader.

And what's cool is that Ryuuichirou Nishioka is totally proud of his role. I remember singer Takayuki Miyauchi posting on his blog about Nishioka's wedding, where Miyauchi sang for the couple (including one of his GG5 songs) and Nishioka was photographed with this:

Holy crap. That picture is cool. I love actors that aren't afraid to acknowledge their roles in toku. If only Odagiri felt that way....

I've started watching this series on Veoh. I'm on episode 5, but I'm really liking it so far.

I love the BGM for the villains in their lair.

Who was this series' head writer, and have they done any Toku before or since?

The head writer is Junki Takegami. He did Megaranger before GoGoFive. And then did Gaoranger and Go-onger afterwards. I personally think GoGoFive is his best work to date.

Glad to hear you're liking GoGoFive. :)
