Ep.24 - Birthday Subbed
The bonus drama CD that came with the first press edition of volume 3 DVD actually provides some insights into Kazehaya's perspective on Sawako from the moment he first saw her as well as detailing some events during the summer holidays just before he entered senior high (the 1st episode of the anime).
[hide]Jo had invited Kazehaya to go see a movie with other friends over the Summer holidays before they become senior high school students but does not turn up, instead a girl named Satsuki does and says Jo couldn't come because he's sick and reminds Kazehaya that they were in the same class during middle high school (she was introduced to Kazehaya through Kurumi). Satsuki takes a reluctant Kazehaya to the cinema with her to watch the movie and drink tea.
In the back of Kazehaya's mind, he finds it a bit awkward and decides to ring Jo. He finds out Jo isn't actually sick but was trying to set him up on a date with Satsuki after hearing she likes Kazehaya. Kazehaya tells Jo he shouldn't be doing match-making for him since it can be problematic for him. A few days later Kazehaya is trying to find Kitahoro High and meets Sawako for the first time (which is what you see in the 1st episode of the anime). At the school he sees people calling her "Sadako" and avoiding her, however he admires her strength to continue trying to fit in the class with everyone and doing all the chores for their sake (even though no one really has given her any appreciation). To cut the long story short, he was very intrigued by her personality and was looking at her the whole time. After the ghost hunting event, he meets her again during the summer holidays (which is the end of episode 1). There he says to himself in his mind that he wants to know more about her as he is drawn to her and wants to let his feelings reach her slowly.
That is actually the first story on the CD, the second one involves Sawako telling a ghost story to Chizu, Yano, Ryuu and Kazehaya in Ryuu's room. Kinda messed up ghost story actually, especially the ending LOL. I also laughed at Sawako's attempt to make the sound effect of a biwa (Japanese lute) throughout the story for scary effect.[/hide]
