Kurumi is actually a softer person than she puts on, I think. I think that Kurumi was actually hurt more, on a personal level, by bad rumors than Sawako was.

In fairness, perhaps another theme in this anime is that it's important to have friends of your own that you can really trust and believe. That friends like Ayane and Chizuru can make all the difference in the world.
