Technically, Kurenai Wataru is actually "Ryotarou DONE RIGHT"

I dunno, I thought Ryotaro was a better-realized character than Wataru. With Wataru, I got the feeling a lot that the staff knew they could take him in several directions and never quite settled on which one.

(I for some reason can clearly see that Inoue was trying to take a subliminal jab to Kobayashi by making Kiva with having Wataru start out as a shy, wussy guy in the beginning).

Heh, I got more of the feeling someone at Toei showed Inoue the first episode or so of Den-O and said, "This is popular, do this. At least at first." And Inoue was like "eehhhh okay but I'm putting my own spin on it" and the rest is history.

But in all honestly, Eiji reminds me more of Shinji Kido than Ryotarou.

The only real similarity I see between Eiji and Shinji is that they're both kind of dimwitted. Otherwise Eiji honestly seems a bit more sensitive to his surroundings and a bit more invested in what's going on around him. Shinji always struck me as someone who tended to get caught up in his own vision of the world, to the point where he often failed to recognize what was actually going on around him.

Just because a show is popular doesn't mean it's done well. Would you consider Jersey Shore quality programming simply because it has a following?

No, but when a show's media last for 3 years, defying the standards set for most of its peers, something has to have gone right. besides that, Den-O is Den-O, W is W.

Technically, Kurenai Wataru is actually "Ryotarou DONE RIGHT"...........even though Inoue clearly created Kiva with the intention of "mocking Den-O" (I for some reason can clearly see that Inoue was trying to take a subliminal jab to Kobayashi by making Kiva with having Wataru start out as a shy, wussy guy in the beginning).

But in all honestly, Eiji reminds me more of Shinji Kido than Ryotarou. The way Eiji went about things in terms of "I'll protect things for the sake of protecting" seems very similar to Shinji saying "I became a Kamen Rider to protect the people from Mirror Monsters, not to fight other Riders."

Then again, after re-evaluating this first episode, it seems I can see elements from both of Kobayashi's Kamen Rider shows in OOOs. Den-O elements and Ryuki elements can both be seen in that first episode, so at this point it is fair game @ how Kobayashi will approach this series as we move forward this year.

Same here. Ryotaro and Wataru are separate. Ryotaro was done right, so was Wataru(though not as well as Ryo IMO due to regressions), and the two are separate

So I finished watching it with subs... and I don't... I don't know if I like it just yet. I want to watch more before I decide.

I'm intrigued, I want to know mOOOre about the Greeed! And what is up with Anhk.

This show is not as stylish as W, but it has an intriguing mythology. I like the TaToBa form look and the fighting was nice. I'm even used to the crooked belt (like the detail with the line on the buckle aligning with the belt) though I wish it had a cool name. I'm not worried about the action.

Mantis Yummy was pretty lame design wise, too pale too. Then again I really didn't like many of the Dopants design and yet they are my favorite group of kaijin ever (mostly because they are HUMANS with humans will and motivations).

It interesting thematically that the one guy chosen to fight the Greeed is the one guy with no desires. It probably won't be the last time we hear Eiji mention 'clear underwear for tomorow' principle or the 'I've known them since this morning!' reasoning. Maybe exploring some of his desires might lead to discovering the other red Core Medals. Since OOOs doesn't have any other than the Taka medal (what do head medals do anyway?) right now I'm betting the red set is going to be the most powerful of the bunch. probably lets him fly too.

If each Greeed has a total of 9 medal...does that mean OOO can get a partial change from each one of them?! o.o

I wonder if the remaining Ride Vendor platoon member will end up being a tech based Rider later on. I could see it hapening but its not very common nowadays to see an established character become a Rider instead of a new guy showing up which is a bit of a shame.

On the side of toys... is it just me or are Candroids a rip off? Seriouslly 2000 yen for one of those thing?! I bet I can get two Scout class transformers with better design for that much. Also looks like they'll be made a bigger deal than the Memory Gadgets were, which I guess is good for marketing but makes for annoying writing.
