I LOVED the creepy happy birthday singing. It was so amazing to see it juxta-posed with the dark things going on at the time. It was also very creepy and tense. Small things like that work wonders for the story. :3

From what I saw until now, I have a lot of Den-O feelings about OOO...

But... there is absolutely no resemblance between the two shows…
There is a good kaijin who helps out the hero. That is pretty much the only similarity. Eiji is nowhere near the same kind of character that Ryotarou was. If anything, he reminds me of Shinji

^^Please enjoy being the only person calling it that. :P

By the way, how are (seemingly) so many people watching this? Do you all know Japanese or are you just ignoring dialogue or...what? :sly:
Watching a shitload of toku/anime means you pick up a teeny tiny bit of Japanese here and there. Either that, or it's not like toku is exposition-heavy so it's pretty easy to tell what's going on.

A really enjoyable first episode, I had a really fun time while I was watching the stream.

While many are comparing it with Den-O I believe it's only in terms of absurd comedy (are we going to have a shot of Eiji in his pantsu each episode?), I don't think Den-O had the same levels of creepyness we've already had in OOO's first episode (the "Happy Birthday" alone is...).

I've liked the opening too, although W's is still better in my opinion. I don't mind the TaToBa tribal chant-thing but the visuals of the henshin could have been better. The fight was interesting and showed how OOO's system works, I like it even if it felt too similar to W's Gaia Memory changes. The "medals = kaijin's blood" is like taken from a videogame... but it fits well. Cliffhanger reminded me a bit to Kiva's first episode cliffhanger.

Really looking forward for episode 2, next Sunday can't come soon enough.

It does have somewhat of a Den-O spin on it. I don't think the Happy Birthday song is as creepy as some think. If anything, that man knows what is going on and has expected the "birth" of the Greeds and OOOs. Give it four more episodes to see how the show develops further...
