King of Hell Castle comments (at long last):
- Toei really needs some original choreography. This is the umpteenth time Megumi has been kneed in the stomach by an enemy in a fight. Hire a cast with at least an iota of combat abilities. Japan Acton Club members or whoever.
- Why the heck is Wataru enrolling in a high school when he's 20? Shouldn't he be going to a college?
And speaking of being overage, that girl sitting to Natsuki's right at 5:34 looked 40.
- Ryuutaros' VA cameo doesn't really fit in with that soccer scene. "Mind if I block you"? You're the goalie. The whole point is to block the ball from passing you.
- I like how Kivat just yanaks off Wataru's glove before biting him. And what's this? MachineKiba in action?? Gasp! Shock! Disbelief!
- Rider Kick without the Wake Up Fessel?
- Towa's indignation to Wataru's cancellation request was over-the-top.
But more importantly, how can Wataru not recognize Otoya when he has a picture of him in his house that he looks at every single day?
- How Rina Akiyama could go from playing a competent character with actual significance in Agito to a useless fool of a character in Den-O I'll never know. At least this brief cameo here sort of redeemed her...
- Is there an actual Kantou West Prison?
- The 'Ore Sanjou' joke was probably the best of the Den-O cameos.
But maybe a Zebra Fangire should, I don't know, be black and white instead of blue and white?
- The Arc ruins are right behind the prison wall? Are you kidding? Was this a budget issue where they couldn't do a scene of Sugimura actually descending deep underground, or were the builders of this prison just blind to the giant coffin?
- The Arc symbol looks too much like Kiva's. I know the Legendorgas modeled Arc after Kiva, but at least come up with your own logos.
- ..... No one notices Wataru just dropping in out of nowhere??
- What is Kivat III doing in 1986?
- Megumi is like a little girl, following Yuri around like that.
- .... What the hell is the point of crossdresser Wataru?? To understand women you must wear their clothes? ..... Words fail me. This is the low point of this whole endeavor.
- Cool, Shiramine has his own bike (And a weird one at that). I had the strange feeling they would just rehash Taiga's from the show.
- What low taste Otoya must have to go after a hag like Gal Sone -___-
- Bron Booster lives! But alas, not a very impressive performance. Next time, less CGI and more props please.
- Using all four forms at once was cool. (Much better than the lame Dogabaki.) But if you're going to use the Fessel sound effects, for God's sake put the Fessels in the bat's mouth! Stop being lazy, film crew!
- Shiramine sells himself to the Legendorgas? That's a bit of a downer. A kaizo-ningen type plot of him being fitted by 3WA to use Rey would make more sense. Maybe something like Dr. Kanda's machine...
- I'm starting to really hate these "punch in the gut" scenes. They don't make any sense, and they're not cool-looking at all. Name me one person you know that does that.
- Two bike scenes. Toei's going all out for this one! >>
- The Emperor Flight Mode appearance was disappointing. I was expecting something more "grand"; that related to the monstrous nature of Kiva. Instead Sugimura just sticks his teeth into Wataru and turns him wild, with no lead-up to the "true Kiva" or whatever.
- It's almost always the scenes not intended to be comedic that are funnier than the ones that are. Case in point: Yuri and Megumi's "galloping" around while bound together, trying to break free of their cell; and Keisuke being thrown out a door.
- Wataru bites Otoya. It's not the classical vampiric scenes that we saw in the teasers (What the hell happened to those? Did they get left on the cutting room floor?) but it is an unexpected moment.
- Finally '08 IXA uses the Knuckle finisher!
And finally, Otoya uses it to actually punch someone instead of those awful "blaster" attacks.
- The forest battle would have looked nicer under a night sky and moon instead of a bright sky and sun.
But on the plus side, that was a nice use of wires.
- I like the music used at the end of Nago and Shiramine's duel.
But one thing is still unclear: Nago was supposed to have been a "student" of Shiramine in the past. None of that was mentioned once in this movie.
- Perhaps the Flight Form scene in the castle should have been scrapped. It's sort of anticlimactic to pull it out again for the final battle.
And what a battle it was! It reminds me of the fights from Garo. Very nice, if a little too short.
Overall, I was expecting more out of this. It felt like a rush job. But even so, I give it a passing grade for its handful of good points. It's Project G4-esque in how it sort of is neither in nor out of show continuity. Unlike in the show, the time travel here worked much nicer, albeit still a tad slipshod. (In an ideal Kiva, time travel would be completely non-existent. It's not appropriate for this type of story.)
I'd have liked to have seen more detail about 3WA and Rey, which was the most interesting aspects of this movie other than the Legendorga lore. Barely anything was learned. The reviews from people like Igadevil and Co. were more informative than the movie itself!
