Kamen Rider Ghost - Episode 1

Finally got to watch the episode. I like it, very much compared to Drive's. It isn't as rush as some make it out to be. Maybe the subs helped with that :D

just watched it today...and yeah, the pacing is off a bit...it feels rushed in some aspects i guess...but having said that:

1. i like the new rider designs, and the genma are cool too.
2. the henshin sequence reminded me of gaim...(which is always a good thing).
3. i could grow to like takeru as a main rider.
4. the supporting cast seem ok, so far, no one annoys me (and that is already a huge step up from drive).

all in all, i think its a decent first outing for our new hero. i have a huge fascination with ghost stories and the supernatural, so i can see myself really digging this show, if its done properly. so ill keep my optimism high and hope for the best.

  • I kinda liked that summoning ritual right at the beginning. He uses some eye drops!
  • That underground area seems like quite an elaborate set. The upper area kinda reminds me of Double's base. I'd like to know why it has a pond and a little bridge to nowhere.
  • Always stay on the good side of a girl who carries a blowtorch in her bag :O_O:
  • There's not enough Yellow Lion in this show :disappoin
  • Has the actor who played the Sage been in toku before? I feel like I recognise him from somewhere.
  • Yurusen feels like something Sentai would normally have instead. There's something very "Navi" about him/her/it. Also an eyeball with a toothy maw cut into it kinda creeps me out.
  • Ooh dat Omega Drive CGI...someone's been watching Garo!
  • Ugh, dodgy Rider Kick though. No forward momentum, not even a jump. Just lifted straight up a couple of feet by wires.
  • Oh hey, the MotW's eyecon explodes when it's defeated. How very Fourze.
  • The bike transformation was pretty cool.
  • Hmm, Musashi somehow doesn't seem as cool as he did in that initial preview. And the sword handle sticking out his head just looks like some sort of painful accident has happened.
  • I'll wait until we get to see the theme tune with the OP. As background music I feel like it somehow lacks a proper chorus.
  • Oh hey, who's the guy borrowing Ikari Gai's scarf?
  • OK, panicky monk guy's constant panicking is starting to get old already.

Hmm I wasn't really loving this episode as I watched it. Having said that, a great first episode is almost a kiss of death for Rider (Wizard, Decade). And it normally takes me a while to get into the groove of a series anyway.

Too true. The guy basically panics for half of the episode (give or take).

OT: I'm not sure how I feel since it's only the first episode. However, I'm not very happy that he kinda sucks at fighting. I was never really content with Den-O...

Yeah I didn't hate it but the first episode definitely felt rushed to me. Still, I like the concepts introduced so far. Suit designs look cool too, except for the Musashi-Sword-Bun of course. Not really impressed with Takeru atm. I guess we'll have to wait a few eps for him to get the charisma and fighting skills he showed back in Drive.

This is the first ever Kamen Rider series that doesn't compel me to see episode 2. It feels lifeless like the main character.

Actually none of the charecters of Drive annoyed me as much as Shunpi in Wizard did and the chick from W always hitting someone with her shoe (damn it i don't remember her name for the life of me right now) any hoot it was a fun episode and i am ready to be spooked!!!

My Japanese is just shy of passable, so I always tend to like the episodes more when I watch them subbed, so I'm saving my reactions for then. When I saw it live, however, I agree that it didn't seem great.

The Takeru/Onari/Akari setup is basically Haruto/Rinko/Shunpei. I really hope it does better than that show, though.

I checked, and the Ganryuujima duel happened when Musashi was 28. I thought it didn't make sense that he was 18 when Musashi already fought in Sekigahara before that.

And here we are, it's the debut of a new Rider who didn't even survive past the first episode.

- I find it a bit funny that they already showed Yurusen (via that small trivia note for Musashi) before Takeru even died.

- So.....why did the two Ganma just stand there for more than a couple minutes while Akari and Onari are there crying over Takeru's body?
That's the most jarring part of the episode to me. Why would they just stand there? It makes no sense.

- Speaking of which, this series sure love rhymes, even Akari and Onari's name rhymes lol

- ......someone really should've reminded Takeru that the Parka Ghost was his own soul and therefore he shouldn't be afraid of it. It made the first henshin looks bad.

- The episode does feel rushed - the fight against Sword Ganma feels like it's another episode. Also, it was so rushed we get no explanation at all for the horse bike lol.

- Hmm, the OP theme, as I guessed, feels a bit better when it comes with some fighting action.

- Okay, why the hell did they think we need a guy with creepy teeth as villain?

- The Hermit feels like he enjoys teasing Takeru a bit too much
