Kamen Rider Gaim - Lock 03 "Shocking! My Rival's Bananas Transformation!?"

I'm pretty sure Takebe or Urobuchi said in a interview the chosen fruits came from a list of the most popular fruits in Japan.

Not quite. She said they "researched into what fruits were popular with the kids," which in all likelihood means focus grouping. It also in all likelihood means the decisions were made by the planning committee, not the people who actually had to design things.

HH: Why an orange out of all fruits?
Takebe: We actually researched into what fruits were popular with the kids. Orange came out on top.
HH: Oranges, bananas, grapes and melons were the most popular then?
Takebe: More or less. We choose fruits that everyone knew for the main Riders. Melons are high commodity fruits too.

Why are the Inves fights now paying money?

Why is Sid upping the ante and essentially altering the Inves fights to Armored Rider fights?

Is Yggdrasil using the dance gangs and all that surrounds them to foster a small army of Armored Riders to [hold the Sabbat and merge Mai and Shadow Mai back together again?/INSERT MCGUFFIN HERE]?

I still greatly suspect the Company is behind it all and “everything is going according to plan.” I think someone in Yggdrasil wants to get all these Warsome Driver wearing fools together to do something. I feel like that is going down Wizard’s/Fueki’s path so I HOPE Urobuchi doesn’t go there, but I’m waiting to be shocked by this show, so if nothing else it’s doing a good job of getting me on the wrong track.

EDIT: Enough with the "bitch" comments, please. Akira didn’t throw him out or yell at him. No profanities or malice were used. She clearly explained that game winnings are not what she feels are appropriate to support a family, form her point of view. Boys and girls, we have to be willing to accept other people’s philosophies, she has a particular philosophy, as does Kaito and so does Kouta. One can disagree with “making the world better while making their money” or “using your own strength to push others to be stronger by challenging them to match or best you” or “helping others for a sense of home and belonging (which is wanting to be needed) but that doesn't mean insults must fly. Akira is a strong woman (it seems thus far) who has been through a lot and is trying to help her little brother be strong and reliable. Had she taken his money or burned it or did something like that, I could understand being upset with her, but she did and said nothing to warrant rancor.

I want to agree with you (one may not agree with her perspective; I don't; but she still thinks she's teaching Kouta to be a better person.) Then again, Kaito Kumon also thinks he's teaching others to be better people, and I want to call him all kinds of very rude names. So that is a bit hypocritical of me

Remains of the pre-fruit days. They've pretty much just substituded birds and bugs (I think that the pre-fruit theme) for fruits. Samurai's was already in place, though that had other knight types added ontop.

I'm beginning to believe Mike and Justin's words about Gaim going G-Gundam...

DJ Sagara...the impression I get from him is the eye-patch dude Stalker.

"RIDER FIGHT ALL SET...READY GO!!!"

As for Sid...he reminds me of the Zoids' Referee and Capt. Tomborg from Kabutack. I would expect Sid as a sinister character, but I'm not getting it from him yet. Usually, characters like that start off from the get go and you have to guess if he will turn out to be a valuable ally or one of the main villains.

Lazy, I thought you were on the Kaito Kumon train! When did the switch happen? Maybe I read it and forgot. I like him ok, I'm just not sure what to think about him yet.

I worry a bit about Urobuchi just making live action anime characters?

Is Kaito a poor Seto Kaiba?

I thought of Kari (Digimon, which I love) when Mai said Kouta always puts himself aside for others.

Shadow Mai looks like an anime character design. Would Urobuchi be able to inform her (or any character’s) look?

I plan to watch Madoka soon, so I can get a small sample of his writing style. One project cannot be indicative of such a highly esteemed writer, I hope.

I do like him. I'm just a little tsun for him. He makes me tsun.

What does he do that makes you go dere then :anime:?

Another enjoyable episode for Gaim!

Hey, Kota, remember when you thought you needed to use your belt to help protect people? You know, in the last episode ? Not that I can't understand him letting his newfound popularity and power go to his head. Now that he's a Rider, he's back to doing the stuff he loves and helping his friends, and he can even make some money on the side off it. Is there really anything wrong with that? It actually feels like Kota's gone through more development in three episodes than most main Riders do over an entire series...

I'll be honest, I think Baron's giant floating banana is somehow weirder than the giant floating Orange used by Gaim. Otherwise though, I think Baron got a nice debut. Though I'll agree with the opinion that his weapon really doesn't work in live action, at least on foot. Creatively, they just might not have wanted to have another Rider with a sword since Gaim and Zangetsu already use them and Ryugen has a gun. And his finisher... I had to rewatch to even understand exactly what happened in it :redface2:.

It felt weird having two Riders debut bikes in the same episode. I'm much more used to the Main Rider getting his bike first and promptly getting to show it off. I do like the bikes though, with Baron's having an edge over Gaim's because I love the color red . I felt the race could've gone on a little longer though.

So now Kaito's finally a Rider, and I'm very interested to see how his newfound power will effect his ideals and future actions.

It's a good thing Sid interrupted the fight when he did, because I have a feeling Gaim would've gotten his butt kicked . I do wonder how far into the series we'll get a proper Gaim vs. Baron fight. I'm also very interested to see how their relationship develop, and when it'll develop into a proper rivalry. So far, Kota doesn't like Kaito and Kaito just thinks Kota's a spineless guy whose not using his power properly.

I like how Mai is one of the only characters who doesn't care about the Riders. She's treating them more like annoyances then anything else.

So now the Invess Battles have evolved into the Rider Battles, likely from Yggdrasill's orders to Sid's mouth. I think I get where Yggrdrasill's going with it: more competition, the kids still don't actively beat each other up, and the Riders are likely to go into the Invess dimension to obtain more locks for power and probably wipe out bothersome Invess at the same time. I wonder when we'll get a proper Rider vs. Rider in public?

So the girl appeared to Baron as well, so she'll likely appear to Ryugen as well. I guess the only thing special about Gaim is that she appeared right in front of him.

Am I the only one who thinks that this is another great chance for what they didn't did in Ryuki? Would had been nice if Ryuki said "I'm not just any opponent, I'm a Kamen Rider!" I hope they don't waste the chance this time with all the Armored Riders and Beat Riders names getting thrown around.

Gotta say I like the episode, and I like Kaito, he warmed up to me much faster than Terui did. I'd got mixed feelings for Baron honestly, he reminds me of Ryukendo's Ryugunou enough for me to like it, and the walking around with the banana on his head was actually funny. But there's something I really dislike in an overall sense about the costume that I don't like.
