Kamen Rider Gaim Ep 46 - "The Fated Victor"

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLS**T! That hasn't stopped Urobutcher before, nor it will stop Kamen Riders. If anything, it has been a theme from the begining with the Great Leader of Shocker, something that could very well be called a force of Nature with the forms he takes, the evil he spreads and just how much he has screwed with so many worlds up until he takes a Rider Kick to the face.

This felt way too Madoka-ish, which in this case was way too wrong. In Madoka things were in a deadlock for the same reason things didn't go as planned in Ryuki, due to the mains being weak as all hell and the enemy having unconditionally haxes to prove the writters point(which even then, turned to dust into the movie). Here though? Helheim isn't even that strong, as Roshuo mentioned, it was his own people that killed each other and not to mention, if some Kurokage troops can go out and burn the forest, what stops Kouta from going :

"Hey guys, all of the forest is gathered, here! Bring the fire, don't mind me, I'm dead already."

What Kouta did here was basically do a 180 at the end and comply with the enemy, nothing more. It's like he ate the fruit and thought : "God Mode set, I'm finished, that's it, they can all go to Hell." because obviously, even when they ransack the planet and go to a new one, they are bound to hit Earth again at some point. What's he gonna do then, be a heartless bastard and destroy his old planet just because his loved one don't live there anymore? That's horsecrap, that makes his stupid victory in KRT completely null then, because that sure as hell isn't heroic, it's the coward's way out of things.

While we say Micchy is a coward and all that jazz, if any of that happens, if anything like that is brought up again and the next episode never resolves the Helheim issue, pray it will be resolved in the Movie Wars 'cause the whole situation will go back to TV and novel Blade's level of crap endings and thrown out plots.

Tl;dr : It felt like if Cronos never went up against Uranus and never beat him or anything, or if Zeus never went against Cronos and just lived in an island.

It was nice to see Uro experiment with much longer series though and show us what he could do with the characters.

Helheim never felt a threat by some bunch of Kurokage Troopers burning some of its flora, hence why it never defended itself. Now, as Helheim is a force of nature, I'm pretty sure its power is unbelievable high. Overlords can control the flora, so what stops Helheim from controlling not only that, but the ground and the air as well? If it feels a threat by you, you are damn screwed. Also Sagara doesn't seem like an absolute physical representation of Helheim. Heck, it doesn't look like an Avatar either. It's more like a real illusion which exists so that Helheim can observe the worlds it invades, as well as taking a part to ensure that its goal will happen. Theoritically, Sagara acts and talks like a human so he can be recognized by humans, but nothing stop him from changing his form into another species' form in order to be recognizable by it, or change his form in a way so that he can manipulate. The way of his thinking is not human-like at all. It's universal. Femushinu had the same thinking as the humans, so why not Helheim have the same as well? Of course its thinking is far more realistic and logical. Lastly, could you please stop comparing Gaim to Madoka or any other show by Urobuchi? We already know that as he is the same writter, he will use the same writing style, so why not focus on how well it was applied in Gaim and let his other shows apart from this?

Anyway, I shall procceed with my thoughts of this episode...
Since last week I was hoping for a better fight, as even though last episode's fight was epic, it still wasn't THAT great. Probably the bike scenes were the worst as they felt really forced and rushed. Thankfully, I got what I wanted, a really good fight that is just how it should be. Kouta wasn't OP at all, and just like he said in the previous episode, he demonstrated power not just by pure strength. I liked how he broke Kaito's weapon and used it against him. And to those that say that a stab shouldn't kill an Overlord, remember that an Overlord's weapon killed Kaito, not by a Musou Saber or a Banaspear. It was a genuine blade from Kaito's sword. So it makes absolute sense.

Anyways, I'm kind of confused as to what happened afterwards. Theoritically, Kouta had to live in Helheim, after destroying the currect world. But instead he didn't destroy the currect world and transfered all the flora and Invess that were on Earth on some other uninhabitted planet. I doubt Kouta would live there though. Didn't they say that the Overlord King had to live in Helheim itself? Also, what's up with that golden apple appearing on that tree? I thought that the Golden Apple would be created in Helheim, not on the planet which it invades. I mean, we can clearly see those aliens behind Sagara and they didn't look as Invess at all. If the Golden Apple is being created in the world which gets invaded, then the whole thing with Sagara saying Helheim has been on Earth before makes a bit more sense.

As for the 3 months after, I also found it weird how they found Takatora. If he fell on a comma, shouldn't he be dead by days after it? I suppose someone found him early enough, but who? Nobody should be there anymore.

Lastly, I have to say one think about Micchy's actor. He did an AMAZING job in this episode. When he started crying, I was expecting that not so realistic sound he made a few episodes before, but in this one his acting was far more realistic and smooth. It seems he really tried a lot. I'm looking forward to his next roles.

Well it does make sense given that Micchy was able to grievously wound Kouta using the Overlord weapons of the Yomatsu Heguri arms. I guess that was the only foreshadowing thing the Hell Ryugen episodes did right.

I doubt Kouta would live there though. Didn't they say that the Overlord King had to live in Helheim itself?

The two options were a) rule the new world engulfed by Helheim or b)push back Helheim and let the old world survive and be hated and hunted. Technically since he put everything on a deserted planet with himself and Mai, he is in the clear. I

Plot convenience.

I agree Micchy's actor is probably the breakout star of Gaim. Takebe did a good job casting him.

I have been holding onto the hope that Micchy would be redeemed and change for the better ever since the Overlords appeared, and I'm glad that I have. It was nice seeing the Kureshima brothers reunite as well.

I wasn't expecting Kouta to just send all the Invess and Helheim plants to a far-off planet. Though I wonder how that world managed to sustain life without a sun, and the Golden Fruit reappearing isn't a good sign, even if they are galaxies away from Earth.

Blonde Kouta really remind me of Enoch from El Shaddai.

Kinda surprised I didn't pick up on it, was focusing on the pure white Kurokage-Kiwami and Guridon(?) mash-up armour Kouta had, but yeah.:shakefist

Sagara said it himself, he is Helheim and he takes various forms as he appears in diffcerent cultures and worlds, true. The moment he walks away this episode and the forest grows on an unsuspecting planet, his "Force of Nature" and "Neutral Stance" go out of the f*cking window. Helheim and Sagara in effect, are not forces of nature at this point, they are parasites leeching on a healthy environment and sucking it dry. They are universal weeds but with a consiousness...an evil one. I'd be more lenient on the "neutral stance" if it was just the forest but the moment it goes all Kyubei on humanity's heads, neutrality is out of the window, much less "a universal way of thinking".

Because he has done stories in the past that haven't used these very same "Story points". Though, to be honest, I have only followed his Fate / Zero and his Visual Novel works and he has shown that he isn't a one trick pony. What he did is Madoka in 46 episodes. He could have gone wild with the ending, he could have cited Kamen Rider Black's manga ending he so much loves and it would have made for a better finale than this, instead of having the heroes give up like in Madoka.

I thought the way things went about in this episode were okay.
Yes, everything felt TV~Madoka but I'm not gonna complain on that.

He stopped being a force of nature the moment he consciously favored Kouta.

Not even favoring him, he just outright turned the joker(in card terms) of those people, the rogue outcast of the fighters(Ryuki) into his own tool to meet his ends. Shiro Kanzaki was more fair and neutral than Sagara.

Which Kouta healed from. So to me, it didn't felt like Kaito took enough strong blows to guarantee that to be a killing blow. But I can somewhat understand what they're going for in this fight though.

Episode 46 : Micchy is lost, ashamed and need his brother to guide him and help him forgive himself. However, those saying all Micchy has done was meaningless are wrong. Micchy, even if it didn't work the way he wished, played a big role in saving humanity. How so?

When you look at that episode, you realize that Earth and Zawame city have been saved, because Kouta received the Golden Fruit from Mai and all the powers linked to it. But even if if Kouta and Mai are the main saviors, all of that has only been possible because Mai was able to become the Woman of the beginning by receiving the Golden Fruit.

And how Mai did receive the fruit? It's because she was able to meet the previous owner of the fruit, Roshuo, and it was only possible because Micchy brought her to him. And it was possible because Micchy was the only one who chose to have a dialogue with the Overlords instead of merely fighting them. While Micchy didn't want Mai to receive the fruit from Roshuo, and was horrified when he did so, he still expected Mai to be the chosen human being who would be the key to save humanity, because she would be the one who would make Roshuo think humanity was worthy. AND HE WAS COMPLETELY RIGHT. Interestingly, he did it when he was in the most evil state of mind.

What does it mean? It means that his strategy to look like he was on the side was the Overlords was a correct one in the path to save humanity. Perhaps there was some good in what he did, after all.
