Kamen Rider Gaim Ep 42 - "Mitsuzane's Last Transformation!"

On the flipside to your points you also have to think that maybe Sagara was made by the forest and that the forest having no higher intelligence as humans do. It doesn't assume what is doing is wrong. The forest is just trying to survive thus making it not evil as it has no concept of good and evil just survival.

Going into the "invade Yggdrasil" arc, Kaito was almost like the one in charge. He was a capable leader and it was looking for quite a while like Kouta even might have ended up on his own, in a sort of "Kouta has the overwhelming power, but Kaito has the mind and resolve, the mental power, and the people around him" scenario. Now that Kouta's got his resolve, however, everyone is inexplicably flocking to him and, with the exception of Minato, it's like everyone and everything involving Kaito from the past 10+ episodes just got reset or rewritten for the convenience of the plot. A stark contrast to the guy who admitted his own tactlessness then proceeded to punch Ryouma for being even more tactless a while back.

I don't see anybody flocking to him. In fact, when Kouta asked Jonouchi and Oren to take the civilians away, that's bloody common sense. Kaito was further away so he couldn't make the call in time. Also, after that, they all went their separate ways to Kouta didn't even interact with the other too.

I was hoping Kaito might have had some kind of ulterior motive or some kind of plan that he was hiding behind the "RAR POWER" stuff, but the last scene in the rain (and the preview) seems to imply... nope, we're just disregarding the great character that we'd been building up completely after all. Meanwhile, all of Micchy's sins are being magically forgiven and he's getting a super sympathetic sendoff (if the "Last Transformation" title is worth anything, at least) while the genuinely decent, if gruff, Kaito is going to get dragged through the trash for the sake of... I don't even know. I can only hope that instead of pulling a cliche "I guess... you were the stronger one... after all... (dramatic death)" ending with him, they'll reveal he'd been being mentally corrupted by his injury or something.

Uh, no. Kaito's stand - back when he first joined the New Generations Rider - was "Let Helhelm invades. THe strong will survives while the weak shall die". And now that I think about it, Kaito have never said nor does he implies that he's protecting the city or the people.

Only Kouta is the one that forgives him cause Kouta is naive like that. The two others in Gaim base clearly didn't trust him. Hell, even Bicchy is starting to realizes that he's too far gone. I think what they're trying to do is invoke a sense of pity alongside the hate we feel for Bicchy.

Last but not least, Sagara. I want to hold out hope that he still won't be the villain here, but I'm rather disappointed they took such an easy route with him. With that as his identity, they've potentially found an easy fix for all the show's problems right there, and they could have done so much more than that.

Overall it was an okay episode on its own, but for what it meant to Gaim as a whole, I dunno.

The problem with identifying Sagara as good or evil is... well, he's a sentient forest. You can't judge him base on human morality since he's outside of it. The closest he could be called is amoral. From the start, Sagara insisted that he's an observer, and while he does meddles in, most of his actions so far prove that he intends to do that.

Maybe it was unclear to you, but to me it was clear how he continued to espouse his ideas of weakness and strength that he hadn't changed only his priorities which was now fighting the Overlord much like how he had switched his alliances temporarily to work for Ryouma.

Then I think you have a clear misunderstanding of what Kaito wants or represents. He is not about power or strength solely for himself, his actions have always been about trying to spur people into achieving greater strength and power. it's why he initally has problems with Team Gaim and Kouta because they don't try and challenge the more powerful dance groups or why he leaves Baron so that Zack can become stronger. Others achieving strength have always been a part of his ideology, what we see in the fourth arc is nothing nww. And this episode only shows the dark side of his ideology that he would welcome something like Helheim since he would leave the survivors stronger.

It was a) a symbol of Yggdrasil and the lengths they would go to stop Helheim including destroying the entire city along with their employees and as a plot device b) it forced Kouta into another showdown which he triumphed physically only to break mentally. Ultimately Kouta's destruction of it is a trumph of him over Yggdrasil despite him getting shot off the roof by Zangetsu.

No he couldn't! From 33 onwards Sagara could NOT have been a neutral observer when he was clearly manipulating Kouta towards one outcome namely becoming an overlord. He admits that he lied by omission in regards to the nature of the Overlords and he lied about the nature of the Kiwami Lockseed and what slowly turned Kouta into an Overlord. Whatever neutrality he had was thrown out the window in 33 and it's absolutely clear since 40/41 once he says to Mai that he wants Kouta to become an Overlord and rule the world that he represents the final problem in Gaim.

basically that what the show has boiled down tooooooooooooooo

....................JUST LIVE MORE!!!!

Yomi Ryugen's transformation was haunting indeed. And despite being recolors of two armor parts, it looks great!!

And I was surprised about that Rider Kick. I'm still waiting for Kiwami's kick!!

He never lied about that. He said it outright that Kouta's gonna need to become an Overlord during Kiwami's debut.

Personally, I was rather disappointed with the buildup of the Yomi lockseed and it seemed way too contrived that Ryouma had it in that drawer... They could have given it a little more exposition. Like Baron's Lemon Energy Arms, this screams plast-minute addition.

Wow, that episode was kick ass. Dat cliffhanger. Although it was a bit cliche, the Hell Fruit was a nice touch. And Sagara finally revealed himself or maybe it is just the tip of the ice berg. It also looks like Kaito will become a Human Overlord. So much that hasn't been explained and my mind is going to explode. Looking forward to the coming weeks.

I love the way it opens an ENORMOUS FUCKING PORTAL TO HELL with smoke and lightning pouring through, just in case anyone was in any doubt about what it does

And they emphasized it even further by repeating the chant, as if one "REALM OF THE DEAD, HELL HELL HELL" chant was not enough

You know, despite how smart Ryouma is, you'd think that he would put the Yomi lockseed in a safe, where not just anyone could get it, but whatev's, he and Mitchy will most likely be dead by the next episode.

Please, the whole thing screamed SET-UP! The moment Ryoma entered the garage his little act started. He knew EXACTLY what was going on. Remember in the last episode he was plugged into the Master Intelligence System? He knew Mai had the golden fruit, he knew Micchy was half broken and he knew he had to keep Kouta away from Mai.

That Hospital was anything BUT random, it was probably ALREADY his off-site lab before the invasion. He put the Yomi Lockseed there so he could nonchalantly reach for it and temp Micchy with it. He didn't need any of his fancy equipment to make his diagnosis and suggest taking the fruit out. He wants the damn thing anyway!

Heck, HE'S the one Micchy shouldn't trust with Mai's wellfare! Kouta doesn't believe in sacrifice but Ryoma doesn't give a rat's ass about her.

Hopefully the back up dancers are gonna get to help first (I totally ship Chucky and Peko :p) before Ryoma can proceed.

Sagara not evil ? He is the bloody forest, an invasive living organism that has probably destroyed countless of worlds. He is doing things for his own amusement, he is probably bored and maybe trying to spice up his invasion by messing with the minds of those he is invading. He even works with people who are trying to fight him and was probably laughing himself silly in the inside. If he is not evil the least he is is amoral. And Kaito, he might experiences character growth but he might also feels time is running out for him due to his infection....

The Forest is not evil. It is amoral, it just grows while forcing the evolution of other races.

Sagara is just beyond human morality.
