Kamen Rider Gaim Ep 39 - "The Deadly Tower Break-In Strategy!"

See, this is the problem I had with Kiwami from the beginning. It can copy the other Riders, but does not show any special abilities aside from that, which makes it look like every enemy if faces could have been taken down by all the Riders together.

The power boost that makes all the weapons far stronger and the variety makes for extremely visually stunning battles. It fits the final form as he rules over all the arms and weapons. Not to mention, it gives him the ability to swap weapons at the drop of the hat, some weapons being more effective than others.

Besides, Kachidoki was never really hyped up as being super-strong, being beaten back by Zangetsu Shin in his very own debut battle.

Kiwami Arms has demonstrated far more power than you seem to think it has, in literally every single fight it's been in. I really don't know what else to tell you.

On top of that this is the first time we get to see Duke since Redyue started the invasion on Zawame.
This episode was the perfect opportunity to give him what is probably highly demanded screentime.

I have no doubts that Kiwami is powerful. As I said, it is pretty much all the Riders in one, but Duke just seemed to be on the same level in this episode, which of course is understandable, as you said, because we have not actually seen him in a real fight yet until this point.
It just made Kiwami look more... average.

I do look forward to see more of what Duke can do, because it seems like Ryouma has added a lot of unique features to the Driver.
I don't remember, did any of the other Energy Riders have scanners inside their helmets, or is this another extra feature that Duke has?

Probably only Duke has it. You know Ryouma he isn't happy unless he knows something. I was expecting him to freak out when he saw Kiwami.

No it didn't. Kiwami had the freaking gate of babylon. It left Duke in the dust.

That was shown when the Kurokages were hunting Demushu and Ryouma was doing command and control using the Duke armor.

Back in the Yggdrazil arc, there was a scene where we got to see from the first person point of view of a Kurokage, and their visors showed the stats of the Riders they were facing, IIRC.

Ryoma's is obviously actually collecting new data for him though, so it's likely different from the others.

The way Kiwami was written doesn't make him feel powerful, but if you imagine Kouta using the arms to his full advantage and not being all flashy, it indeed is an impressive form. Faster, stronger, and more versatile than any other arms out there. The only weapon that I feel comes close is the Sonic arrow, with it's short and long ranged features. They just like to show off the function of the toy with it being able to constantly summon different weapons, and slow one hit at a time moves. After seeing the latest episode, If Kouta was more "ruthless" like Ryouma said he should be like, He would honestly be unstoppable in that form, but alas, Kouta and all the Japanese shows nowadays is not about pulverizing these evil forces that are heartless with their conquest, but all about "understanding," that maybe they're just evil because we don't understand them and their wants. Imagine if Tendou had this form.

Ryouma isn't on the same level as Kouta, He's just more ruthless with his ways and will do "cheap shots" like him creating illusions of himself and then hit them with an attack, whereas Gaim likes to get up close and personal.

I thought it was a okay episode. Seeing the riders gear up to rush the tower is pretty awesome. My problem is the lack of urgency in that regard. Considering Kouta's reaction to Mai getting kidnapped, has he forgotten about his sister or the other people that were taken? It's at that point kind of got stalled for a little while kouta dealt with the Mitsuzane stuff. But now that Mai got taken it's time to go charging. Kouta doesn't even mention getting his sister back.

There is also my pet peeve with the fight scenes. Falling into the same problem Wizard did. We have to watch Gaim fight a strong monster for a couple of minutes longer than necessary till he decides to use the stronger form.

Ryoma is awesome though, I don't remember him being this over the top. He's pretty funny to watch prance around being a troll. Even better that he still has plans up his sleeve.

Besides, Kachidoki was never really hyped up as being super-strong, being beaten back by Zangetsu Shin in his very own debut battle.

I mean he got hit once and then Kouta backed off to do what he intended to do.

Also if you think Kachidoki performed bad, you should see Jinba Lemon. Its only good performance was against Micchy as Zangetsu Shin before the Overlord arc whom he later lost against due to PLOT despite being the form that finally took down Takatora's aura of invincibility. Also, he tried to use it to fight Dudonshu, he couldn't stand a chance till he had to go Kachidoki.

Thank you Gaim, this episode was awesome. Definitely not disappointed.

I loved every scene. Mitchi being a dick and letting Rat and Rika get sacrificed (and then getting all sensitive about Mai). Also his breakdown in front of her when troll Takatora showed up.

The stuff with Ryoma was kind of humorous - his dialogue is breakneck and he's definitely more insane than before. Loved when Kaito punched him in the face. That put a big ole' smile on my face. Leaving to the outskirts of Zawame was actually quite effective.

The action was great (awesome to see Knuckle Suika arms and Duke kicking some ass) and even Oren and Jonouchi got an awesome scene. Hope they don't end up dead.

I guess my only issue is that the episode kind of ended without really heading towards the ending. Makes waiting two weeks instead of one really hard.
