Kamen Rider Gaim Ep 26 - "Baron's Genesis Transformation!"

Am I the only one that disagrees with this diagnosis that Micchi is psychotic? Am I missing something? I can't believe he's being compared to characters like Kusaka! I think he's on a slippery slope, but Micchi to me is more like...someone who was often the smartest one in the room and knew it, and now that he has power, he's let it go to his head a bit, thinks that makes him a grown up, but...he's doing what he thinks is right, and he's doing it out of a place of actual care and concern for his pals.

He's not. A lot of what he did did not make his friends more comfortable or happy.

All he wants is his playmates to play with him forever, regardless of their well-being. He'd tie them to a stick and play with them like puppets if he must, and because he's smart, that's what he's doing. He never lets them decide for themselves.

No wonder Kaito was annoyed, Demushu was actually speaking Japanese after he got hit by the arrow.

And not sure if it's done on purpose but Takatora always seems to reference something from past series, he already mentioned 'Final Hope' and 'Despair' a few times (in fact he talks about it next week), now he talks about nobleness oblige.

I agree the echo effect for the sound effects were annoying today.

Yoko says that Gaim's power was above the expectations from the Genesis Core. Kinda reminds me of Blade where Kenzaki performs astonishingly well by fusing with all 13 undeads.

The only time I can think of Micchi getting off on playing people is when he's trying to outmaneuver the Yggdrasil people. Unless I'm remembering wrong, he's never treated anyone on Team Gaim that way. He wouldn't sit there with a smile, watching them dance, hoping their happiness lasts as long as possible, if he was some nut who thought they were his playthings. Where's the evidence that this is his way of thinking?

I don't think it's right that Micchi keeps secrets from his friends -- in his head he's protecting them, and there ARE people like that -- I'm just saying I don't understand why people think he's as deranged as Kusaka and call him crazy or unhinged or whatever. I'm just not sure if that's what the show's trying to do with the character.

I guess that one can see Micchy protecting his friend's happiness through ignorance as something closer to protecting that environment that makes him happy than protecting the actual happiness of his friends. In a way though, by joining Yggdrazil and taking the responsibility for himself he's shouldering part of their pain like Kouta does, even if his actions are different. However, people will look at Micchy with more negative eyes because the show is clearly foreshadowing that he's wrong and his methods will fail.

This episode shows that pretty clearly when he explodes in front of Mai, angry at Kouta bringing the problems to them. His anger at Kouta disrupting that happiness ends up just hurting it even more. I don't think that makes him crazy, but it's clear that the show is portraying him as misguided, doing something that will fail to bring happiness to them, and will possibly even turn him against his friends.

I think people exaggerate how much his crush on Mai weights there though. Although it certainly exists, so far it doesn't seem to have really motivated any of his actions by itself. Many of the Kusaka comparisons seem to come from his relationship with Mari, and I think this is clearly different from that.

He already did that. At the end of the All Beat Riders dance-off while celebrating. After playing his manipulating part he said (thought to himself) that he'd do everything and betray anyone just to keep having that kind of fun. His goal is not to protect them: it's to have fun, forever.

In the trailer where Kaito is fighting Ryugen, it kinda reminds me of the second episode where he snapped at Peco because he cheated and shot a Lockseed out of Kouta's hands from far away, this time with Micchi cheating and shooting Kouta without armor away from the Kachidoki armor.

He said that he'd betray anyone or anything to keep that "happiness (幸せ/Shiawase) alive". That doesn't necessarily mean just his own happiness, especially considering how he was surrounded by other happy people in that scene.

He isn't really running from pain itself either considering how he takes upon himself shouldering the truth of what happening and keeping his friends happiness. Those are not the actions of someone who just wants joy all the time. That doesn't mean his actions are correct though, and they obviously already started having negative consequences for himself and his friends.

He says he will betray anyone, including the people he's being happy with. Betrayal against somebody connotes actively acting against his/her wishes and that means not actually caring whether they're happy or not. And that means he's only caring about his own happiness.

If he was just keeping the truth from them, then he would just have used a less negative or more passive word, but clearly, in his mind, he knows and admits that he's working against them, and will gladly continue doing so. He's not saying this to anyone else, he's saying it to himself in his head.

He's not even trying to convince himself that he's doing it for his friends' own good, meaning he knows clearly the negative nature of his actions. He only does that when he's talking out loud, trying to get Kouta or someone else to do what he wants.
