Did you even ever get around to finishing Decade? Anyway, Decade also had Akira/Amaki and a non jerk L'arc...

The problem with Miho is that the whole point of her character seemed to be showing that women shouldn't be Riders. Shinji tells that to her, she's completely unable to fight Ouja and is easily killed by Ryuga in the end. She basically does nothing right by herself as a Rider.

She was a decent character compared to some others, but the "point" of her character was pretty offensive to the idea of a female Rider.

I know that much is true at least to some. However I never saw her as someone who would come out alive. It kinda felt like she was in way over head and she was going for revenge against a rider who had a history of killing others without mercy.
In the context of the story it worked but it may have come off badly to some people.

On the subject of female Riders, I think we can all agree...

The best one, the one showed the fairest and with the most dignity...was Tackle.

And that's really kind of sad.

I liked Femme in a lot of ways- the character, Kato Natsuki, the design, Kato Natsuki, the concept, Kato Natsuki, the powers, Kato Natsuki, etc.- but I pretty much have to agree with NeonZ, she really doesn't come out of the movie too well. I think the scene with Asakura choking her is a contender for the silliest thing Inoue's ever written.

But then I think we tend to forget that Rider mortality skyrocketed after 2000 so it's pretty much a given that movie Riders will die, male or female. It's easier to think of ones who survived, and even some of them died of old age off-screen! Secondary TV Riders are doing better than they used to, but I still kinda miss the days when Riders could get hit by a nuclear bomb and just wind up in Australia. :laugh:

I think New Den-O and Kivara are the only movie exclusive Riders to survive... (unless there were some in the Hibiki movie, I haven't seen that one)

Technically, the Hibiki guys mostly survive the movie.

And many of the scenes that start with "In the bar..."

I think Inoue really wants to just write a story about characters in a superhero universe, but never actually show them doing superhero things, but just being regular people- for all the good and bad that comes with that. Like, Kamen Rider's day off. His Faiz novel (which I am going through slooooowly) is pretty much that, a lot of people standing around and thinking about things (and I still haven't gotten to any supposed Kusaka-rapes-Mari scene.)

Maybe I'm giving him too much credit though. He probably just wants to write a show about rich assholes who punch each other into rivers and (insert your own Inoueisms here because I'm too tired to list them all.)

I sorta want to see him write for Fourze, just to see the reactions it would provoke.

It would be the episode in which Gentaro starts to doubt his own notion of friendship, going into his very own "mid-life crisis" about the KRC...

At least that's what it would feel like, compared to Frouze's usual VERY comedic and lighthearted tone.

All the publicity material so far has mentioned Gentaro falling for her and pictures of her surrounded by heart shapes, etc. This is not exactly the way to market a character that the audience is supposed to take seriously

His opinion? Or just his surprise to see a young girl as a Rider when so many of the others have been cold-hearted miscreants? Compare it to the episode where that kid steals Ren's deck and tries to be a Rider.

She'd just come out of an exhaustive fight if I recall correctly. So for her not to be on top of her game isn't surprising.

I really don't see that as the point. What if she was a male and everything else stayed the same? What would you be saying then?

Where did you get the Faiz novel? Is it translated?
