Kamen Rider Fourze Rumor/Picture Thread Part 2

His opinion? Or just his surprise to see a young girl as a Rider when so many of the others have been cold-hearted miscreants? Compare it to the episode where that kid steals Ren's deck and tries to be a Rider.

The problem here is that Shinji's words seemed to be backed up by the movie's events that followed. Femme was shown to be utterly incompetent in combat every time she engaged the other Riders.

Blinded by rage?

Asakura grabbed her by the neck even after he lost his deck and she just stood there unable to get out. It seemed like if he hadn't been vaporized due to the mirror world, he could have beat her up even without transforming. She was just portrayed as a joke.

She'd just come out of an exhaustive fight if I recall correctly. So for her not to be on top of her game isn't surprising.

There were no signs that she was tired. It was only afterwards that she tried to hide her wound until she died.

I really don't see that as the point. What if she was a male and everything else stayed the same? What would you be saying then?

I don't see how Shinji's speech could be the same if she was male. Quite a few elements of her character would be changed by that, and, yes, that would result in some other meaning for her role.

Yes, of course. A Kamen Rider is supposed to be marketed on fighting ability and actual plot - not as a love interest and not as a token female

She's not even in the series...

Plus all females tend to be put into the love interest spot, because, surprise surprise, Japan isn't a feminist "we don't need no man" country.

Don't like the fact that a one-time Rider falls in the love with the main character? Don't watch the movie.

Isn't it supposed to be the other way around (Gentaro falling for her?)

There doesn't need to be a "love interest spot." Period. I remember you whining about "we don't want pansy-ass men in the shows!" You KNOW that the roles given to female characters are completely **** and you don't want to see men in them, yet you are perfectly happy for a woman to be written into those roles because you think women are inferior. As does anyone who would write a female character that way

My god. I hate to break it to you, but a love story IS a common type of plot and in that type of plot someone has to be a love interest. ..and I don't think Gentarou is gay so it'd have been likely to be a girl.

She's hardly 'token', there are at least three other girls in the Kamen Rider Club.

You're making far more of a big deal out of this than it actually is.

It's a comedic love story in a movie based on a show for children, and you have no idea how she'll be portrayed other than that Genny is all goo-goo eyed for her. Hence the hearts. Again. Comedy.

You've seen like one trailer and some pictures. There's just not enough evidence to make any kind of judgement at all. You have no idea if her role will be 'completely ****'. She could be the best rider since well.. Gentarou himself for all we know.

For all we know they'll play her up like a rival. That I'd like to see.

You'll never see a male character in toku who exists just to be a love interest (except maybe Tuxedo Mask in PGSM - and that's based on an anime/manga, so it's not quite the same thing.) Therefore there shouldn't be female characters who exist just for that. They should be written the same way.

By "token", I'm referring to the default "female character" personality: the assumption that because someone is female OF COURSE she's going to be kind, nurturing, compassionate, love children and animals, like cooking and cleaning, enjoy shopping and girly pop music, dress a certain way, etc. Instead of being written as an equal to the male characters

That's unlikely, since her suit is a powered-down version of his ...

*Lazy activates "Gender Equality"

Gender Equality
Magic
"This card can only be activated when a female appears in anything made by Toei. The opponent takes 3000 damage and returns all female cards on the field to their respective player's hand(s) and summons an appropriate equal opportunity version(s) of the same character(s) from their hand or deck to the field. All female characters on the field cannot be killed in battle."

*Toei activates a counter trap, "Traditional Japanese Views"*

Traditional Japanese Views
Counter Trap
"This cards activation cannot be negated. For each female character on the field, you gain X dollars (where X is equal to the popularity of the male character and how many toys their moms buys them.) At the end of this turn, all female characters are sent to the graveyard and cannot be revived at any time this game."

Yep, this is exactly what I see every time these arguments between Lazy and anyone break out, lol

She's another girl at the school. What did you expect, Gen' to suddenly become a scientist in Tokyo and meet a renowned and confident neurosurgeon that he falls in love with?

She exists within the confines and setting of the established show in a very similar way to Gentaro. She's somewhat of a narrative foil for him which is why I'd like to see the rival thing played up. She's a transfer student (that just happens to be of the opposite gender) that can become a space themed Kamen Rider.

What does Gentarou do in a situation where he encounters that? Well, the same thing he does when he meets most attractive girls, because he's that type of guy -he goes goo-goo eyed. It's a very valid and interesting and FUNNY (because comedy) type of plot.

We don't have a single 'default' female character so far. We have no evidence that she's ANY of these things. She's wearing another schools uniform. That's why she's dressed that way. Just like Gentarou. Because she's a narrative foil. She's as complex as every other cast member.

You mean her suit is a prototype? Something very common with technology? Again, within the bounds of plot, there was something that came before the Fourze Driver. This is that belt. You can't really complain. What did you expect? A rival system? (Might have worked, but may not with the Kengo's Dad backstory we don't know yet) An upgraded version? (Which they would clearly give to Gentarou).

It seems more that you dislike how narrative works than you have any actual complaint. ..except maybe with men. This is mostly speculation on both of our parts, but either way she's a wholly original character who fits within the confines of the established narrative and universe. Until we see more of her we can either judge on what you're speculating or sit back until we actually know more.

Yep, teaching kids that women are just there to be your girlfriend/look pretty for you is hilarious!

We don't have a single 'default' female character so far.

Miu and Yuuki are just different strands of the girly-girly idol type. ("Weird goth/emo kid" is pretty gender neutral) Why don't we see more girls who behave like Kengo or Daimonji? Because that would be considered too arrogant/pushy, and therefore not attractive to male viewers who tune in to ogle the girl

We don't know that yet either!

I just think it's cheap to deliberately make one Rider weaker so the other looks better in comparison (like Proto-Birth vs Birth)
