I guess they thought they needed something to make this movie more appealing? It's just a side story that takes place during the show, and so far they aren't even advertising new Riders. We're only maybe getting a new Mashin Chaser form. Personally, before this announcement I had little interest in this movie.

Loved the Kamen Rider Accel movie, and I'd long felt that Drive should have featured a guest episode with Terui Ryuu. A visiting detective from another city who's also a Kamen Rider would have made a great mentor character for Shinnosuke. Plus they're both vehicle based! I'm glad this is finally happening.

I love that Toei is starting to do more crossovers with characters that make sense to crossover. Doing this big Dinosaur crossover with Kyouryuger and having previous red ninja rangers and Jiraiya showing up in Ninninger has been really fun; more fun than just having Riders and Sentai teams meet up with their immediate predecessors and successors. I generally like all crossovers, but the ones where there's something thematic tying the characters together are really great.

Yeah I like crossovers where the toku heroes have similar powers and motifs.

Summary for Drive Sage: Kamen Rider Chaser
[hide]- The story takes place after Surprise Future
- Chase's feelings for families and human are overflowing in him. Roidmude 051, who used to be destroyed by Machine Chaser returns. During the fight, a girl named Hinako is injured. Seeing Hinako and her brother Hiroshi reminds Chase of Kiriko and Gou, so he decides to protect them
- Hiroshi doesn't trust Chase since he has no emotion. Because of this, Chase wishes he can become a real human and experience these "emotions". The Roidmude named Angel, who already achieved Ultimate Evolution appears. With the Golden Wings, Roidmude Angel granted Chase human emotions.
- The SCU is shocked with a completely different Chase, he is able to enjoy happiness. However, Chase is concerned about the fact that Angel wants to create a different world from what Heart and Brain dream of
- Meanwhile, Shinnosuke is working on the case of 051. He goes to a nearby town. Here, he meets a man named Terui Ryu

It's once again introducing characters with powers that would break/warp the setup established in the TV series (see also Gaim Gaiden with Idunn and Tyrant) and stating that Chase had no emotions before "Surprise Future" - so, he showed no emotion at all, not even in the episode where he became Kamen Rider Chaser?! But then says that he is magically granted human emotions by a Mary Sue, implying he did not have them before (when there are multiple instances of him showing emotion prior to "Surprise Future")

And then it says that SCU is shocked. So this implies that emotions he granted is just... bright in comparison with what Chase had prior to it.
I don't think they want to screw up his character so much, so I'm not worrying about this synopsis. It has it's problems (Ultra Evolved Angel out of nowhere) but anyway... it's not so bad.

Episode 47 showed us the man who Chase copied. He seemed to be an unsociable and rarely expresses his emotions type as he claimed he need no friend when Shinnosuke offered him friendship. I guess Chase got these features from the man and ended up struggling with emotions
