Kamen Rider Drive - News/Rumours Thread 1

I just finished watching Type Tokujo Episode 1 with subs (Vietnamese Sub, sorry guys). The story actually relates to the series' main plot

Gou wonders about how the special unit members were chosen. Krim tells him to investigate a case from one year ago. On the night before Global Freeze, Doctor Odagiri was found dead and his assistant went missing. Odagiri also had a meeting with Nishihara Kouya (the guy Shinnosuke arrested in episode 0) on the night he died. Meanwhile, Rinna questions Krim why did he send Gou and Shinnosuke to investigate the case, he explained this case might be related to Dr. Banno (the man who created the Roidmude) as the victim's schedule has Banno's name in it. We get a scene of Brain looking at his tablet screen saying: "This is all your fault, Banno". In the end, the assistant of Odagiri suddenly appear, both her and Nishihara confess that they killed Odagiri. The episode ends with Shinnosuke talking about how he didn't realise the dark secrets behind this case and Gou whispering the name "Banno"

So has any rumors for 2015/2016 Kamen Rider pop up yet since they tend to show up around this time.

^ Not yet. We usually get confirmation of trademarks around late May to mid-June, and we've had fewer rumours in recent years because of Toei cracking down on leaks. We'll probably get a name in the next month to month and a half, and then more concrete information around August. All we currently know is that there'll definitely be a Movie Wars with the next Rider, cos they announced it back in December when the last Movie Wars came out

Despite the wide range of opinions on Kamen Rider Drive, I think it's safe to say that Drive's movie will probably be better than Gaim's solo movie. I mean, it would have to try REALLY hard to be worse.

I believe so too. Drive's special DVDs and extras all have good stories and enjoyable, so I expect the same quality from Drive's movies

The problem that Gaim had was that Urobuchi wrote the whole series himself, he's a great writer, but then because of that the whole story and structure is confined to his style and progression is really restricted. So when you get outsiders trying to write a movie it just won't fit well into it (of course getting cameos from football players won't help either).

IMO, Gaim summer movie would have been way better had it been set in an alternative universe or an alternative ending to the TV series like early Heisei movies did

Technically it was set in a alternative universe. Except Kota wasn't and they had to make it canon with the tv series but having one of the episodes tie in with it. I wish they did do the early Heisei Summer movie route with an alternative universe and ending to the series. Gaim's was molded very much like Ryuki, Faiz and Blade.

Anyway there are rumors that Drive's Summer movie is going to feature a return from the G3/Agito crew. That would be nice if they made the Summer movies a bit more special. I'm looking forward to those more than Movie Wars now.

I didn't really hate Gaim's movie that much per se; I just felt the movie would've a lot been better without a certain scene.
