Kamen Rider Double Rumor/Picture Thread

Pretty Cure receives that kind of attention from the otaku, although they're clearly not the (main) intended audience, and it's shown right after Kamen Rider. I don't think they're actively trying to avoid that interest, they just don't care about it.

Two points.

1) Pretty Cure is not really comparable to Kamen Rider as a franchise, not yet. Kamen Rider is a franchise going on 40 years old, with the name of one of Japan's most beloved mangaka attached to it. Pretty Cure appears to be an in-house IP Toei cooked up so it could have a reliable magical girl franchise. People will get upset over things done with the Kamen Rider IP in a way that they just won't with Pretty Cure, not for a good 20 years.

2) Pretty Cure gets dramatically less interest from the otaku community than Sailor Moon did back in the day. There just are not words for the difference in degree. I feel like this is the result of Toei engineering elements of Pretty Cure to minimize otaku interest. Most notably, Pretty Cure features precious little of the simulated nudity or lesbian fanservice that made Sailor Moon (in)famous.

I think it is true that Toei just doesn't care about catering to the otaku community with its mass-market brands, but I think the company's stance probably goes beyond mere indifference. Otaku culture has come under sharp criticism from the Japanese mainstream in the past few years. Toei has no reason to even want to appear to associate its big brands directly with otaku culture. Not when they're licensing out more mainstream products like Ichigo onesies.

I'm wondering now if Shroud wanted the user of Skull to be Philip's partner, and in that case she considers Shotaro as just a poor attempt to be him. Seems like everyone kinda dumps on Shotaro, saying he's not as good as his boss was... and with how Shotaro obviously looked up to this guy, and emulates him to the best of his ability, it's kinda sad.

I almost want to see Shotaro to decide he doesn't have to be like his boss, and has to learn to be his own man with his own style of doing things.

Aldo, I figure Shroud and the boss had some sort of background, seeing as she mentioned that she had been in their HQ before, far before Philip even knew about it, so it apparently existed before Begins Night.

I recebtly saw EP 30 and the Metal Heroes homage is far too awesome...:buttrock:

Presumably she's using her Driver. The problem is that Isaka messed with it, so it's no longer regulating her Gaia Memory the way it should.

I wonder why Ryubei doesn't change or fix Wakana's Driver...:disappoin
