Well, considering the only point of the character seemed to be to make trouble for the rest of the cast at odd moments and then run off? I'd say a lot. Plus, he was never explained. Even his friends and brother in his own world were confused about how he became Diend, if I recall correctly.

Wait a minute i noticed something i think all the riders of this year are all gonna be based on Ishinomori Heroes

Theory:
Double = Kamen Rider
Skull = Skull Man
Accel = Kaiketsu Zubat

Huh! That's a really good theory... and also one that makes me feel quite a bit more hopeful about W staying the course. Carrying out a theme like that is simply not possible if you're making stuff up as production goes along.

This is the kind of thing a writer thinks of when drawing up a show's high concept. It totally fits with the observations that a lot of W's style is in homage to other genres popular in Japanese TV in the 70's, when Kamen Rider made its big rise to fame.

I could see that. I could also see Toei fucking it up.

There's something about W that visually and otherwise just kinda feels like it would at least be an Ishinomori creation if not something he would do for Rider if only because W isn't a kaizo-ningen in the same sense the Showa guys are.

Really it's like if we found out tomorrow that W was a sketch and some notes stuffed in a pile under or something like that I wouldn't be shocked at all.

But even if not then the creators of this show very much have his work on the brain and are having fun celebrating it even as they are doing their own thing.

Personally I was enjoying the show just fine without any secondary Riders and I hope one day to see a show have the stones to do it's whole run without them. But if this show can bring in a secondary while keeping its integrity then that could be cool.

We do know how/where he got the Diendriver from but we have no idea how he managed to travel between worlds to get the driver in the first place.

I gotta agree. I was a bit disappointed to hear that there would be another rider in the tv series. I thought a show like W could easily handle running the entire series with just Double. Considering the endless possibilities for more forms and weapons and the fact that he already 2 characters combined, it seemed like it was enough.. but oh well. Hopefully this new guy is introduced mid-season and is the last one.

Well, can't be helped, Toei needs more dough, so 2 riders = 2x the merchandise, even if they are just going to use it for 1 episode alone. :redface2:
