When M3GAN 2.0 was first teased last year, one persistent rumor left people puzzled: could M3GAN reform? Could she fight for OUR side this time? The full trailer for the film was released today, and it lays the entire plot out on the table…and yup, that’s exactly what’s happening. It’s Terminator 2, only with sassy killer fembots. And you know what? We’re fine with this. M3GAN survived the first film by downloading herself into a piece of electronics in Gemma and Cady’s house. When she finally reawakens, she finds herself in a…less than ideal place (we won’t spoil it, it’s a good surprise). Things have taken a turn for the worse in her absence…a corrupt weapons manufacturer has obtained the schematics for M3GAN and is using it to build a more advanced model. That model, Amelia (no capitalization or numbers here) went rogue and is now systematically hunting down and killing everyone who had a hand in her creation…including Gemma. Gemma and Cady’s only hope is M3GAN…but can they trust her enough to let her loose? It’s a lot to put in the past, we admit. M3GAN eventually convinces them to build her a fierce new body and once she […]

Okay, first of all, I need to say it: M3GAN is mother. That walk, that hair flip, that death stare—iconic. I’m thrilled she’s coming back, and yes, I will be cheering when she slays (literally and figuratively). The trailer giving her a redemption arc? I support it. She doesn’t need to be good or bad. She just needs to be fierce. Let her fight that Amelia robot and serve looks while doing it. Robots fighting over who gets to be the supreme AI queen? That’s camp, baby.

I’m not buying this sudden "M3GAN is our only hope" thing. Girl, she almost killed a whole family in the first movie. Now we’re supposed to trust her again because she has better eyeliner and a worse enemy? No thank you. I love her, I quote her daily, but let’s not pretend she’s anything but a stylish menace. This sequel better be messy, or I’m logging off.

The plastic Teletubby Megan is absolutely adorable. From the soft pastel color palette to the smooth facial animations, she gives off a strangely comforting vibe—even when she’s threatening someone. Watching the trailer, I couldn’t help but think of Ashley Too from Black Mirror. There’s something about that sweet, artificial face paired with unsettling intelligence that really sticks with you. M3GAN feels like Ashley Too’s older, more rebellious sister—the one who went rogue and never looked back. It’s creepy, but also kind of cute in a twisted way.

Oh. My. God. When I saw Oops!... I Did It Again playing in the background, I legit choked on my drink. Like, are they serious? M3GAN free-falling in slow motion with a sugar glider-style parachute cape while Britney Spears is playing? That is PEAK CAMP. That is HIGH ART. That is cinema.

The fact that someone in the editing room sat down and said, “You know what would make this killer robot fight scene even better? Early 2000s pop perfection,” is sending me. And not just any song. Oops! A song about making the same bad choices over and over. M3GAN, girl, are you self-aware now? Are you leaning into the mess? Because if so, I respect it.

Also, let’s talk about the sugar glider parachute. This doll really said, “You thought I was falling to my death? No, sweetie, I’m gliding.” Imagine being Amelia, thinking you finally took M3GAN out, and then she just soars back down like a murderous Mary Poppins. No wonder drag queens love her. She understands theater.

I wasn’t sure if they could bring M3GAN back in a way that made sense, but the trailer actually surprised me. Making her fight another robot, especially one made by a shady company, feels believable in this world. It’s not just a twist for shock value. I also like the idea that M3GAN is still dangerous, but now she’s dangerous to someone worse. It’s not black and white. I can see Gemma and Cady struggling to trust her, and I think that tension could make the story deeper. It’s smart that they didn’t try to make her a hero completely. She’s helping, but probably still has her own goals. That keeps things interesting.

Listen. When I saw M3GAN doing Wing Chun in the trailer, I almost passed out. Fully slayed. I had to pause, rewind, and watch it again like five times. That little frame, those precise hand movements, the calm expression—she was serving martial arts eleganza. I didn’t even know I needed kung fu M3GAN until that exact second. It wasn’t just choreography, it was art. She wasn’t just fighting; she was communicating through combat. Like, girl, who trained her? Ip Man? M3GAN giving Wing Chun is my new aesthetic. I already told my trainer at the gym, “We’re skipping leg day—I need to learn whatever she just did.

I laughed when I saw the trailer. It’s not that it looks bad, but it’s so dramatic. A robot revenge plot? Sure, why not. I’ll watch it, but I’m not taking it seriously. This kind of movie is good for watching with friends, eating popcorn, and laughing at how crazy it gets. I don’t need to think too hard about it.

LOL, that part had me dying! M3GAN really said, “You can have Gemma, just leave Cady alone,” like she was cutting a business deal. The AUDACITY. She’s not even trying to be a hero—she just wants her little bestie safe. I love how she still has that chaotic energy even when she’s supposedly the “good” one now. Like, sure, she’s helping, but only on her own terms. Amelia must have been so confused, like, “Wait, what??” M3GAN really does not care about Gemma at all, and honestly, that makes it even funnier.

I did not expect them to go in this direction at all. I thought a sequel would either show M3GAN coming back as an even more advanced and terrifying threat or focus on a new AI gone wrong. But instead, they’ve gone full Terminator 2 with M3GAN in the protector role. It’s a bold choice, but I can’t say I dislike it.

The first movie had horror elements, but this feels like a full-blown sci-fi action thriller. I’m guessing they realized M3GAN’s personality was too popular to keep her as a pure villain, so they found a way to flip the script. It’s not just a bigger and badder AI this time—it’s an outright war between robots. That shift changes the whole mood of the series. It’s no longer a cautionary tale about tech, but more of a battle between good and evil, with M3GAN forced into the "good" side.

I don’t know if this will work. The charm of the first film was how unsettling yet funny M3GAN was, and I hope they don’t lose that. But I’ll admit, I’m curious. If they’re going all in on this Terminator 2 approach, I want to see how far they take it.
