OVERVIEW : The Hunger Games is an upcoming film directed by Gary Ross and based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins. It stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. It is scheduled to be released on March 23, 2012.

PLOT : In the remains of North America lies the country of Panem, where there are 12 districts that must choose one girl and one boy between the ages of 12 to 18 to compete in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death in an arena on live television as punishment for the 'Dark Days' when the 13 districts rebelled together against the country's government, the Capitol, which resulted in the destruction of District 13. When 16 year old Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) volunteers to takes her sister Prim's (Willow Shields) place in the Games, she will leave behind her family and her friend Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth), meet her fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), and be pitted against other tributes from fellow districts who have trained for this their whole life. Katniss must try her hardest to do the unthinkable—win the Hunger Games.

While I love what I'm seeing for Katniss, I'm very concerned as to how they'll do District 11 and if they'll extremely downplay Rue and Thresh and their families in the first two films . While I still believe she's too old for the role and that the actress of Prim should be doing Katniss , if they can keep the tone ,story and the harsh reality of Panem intact , I'll be satisfied.

Still disappointed this wasn't animated in the traditional hand-drawn style because while I was reading the first book , all the fighting scenes in Princess Monooke and Avatar :TLA (sans the element bending) came into mind plus they could've gotten away with alot more than with live action.

Still hope for the best ,though.

Hot damn! Really been looking forward to this one for ages, great to see the trailer out. I loved the book series and it'll be great to see it on film.
