From KingRanger to the HJU Community

as one of the people who clashed with KingRanger the very most I have to say I am glad that he is showing a desire to better himself even though there were a myriad of times where I wanted to reach through my computer and choke the guy.
That being said I'm purely with Zander on this one; let him come back but put a choke chain on him for a good while.

If there is a reason to put a chain or leash on a user I see no reason to allow him to return. If a user has put himself in that kind of position, and has received a permanent ban for the reasons he was banned for I say let the ruling stand. If I was banned for those reasons I would hope this site would stand by its convictions. I don't mean to sound mean or spiteful, but if he has been given more than one chance to change his ways and still never changed...this site is well within it's rights to ban him to maintain it's peaceful atmosphere.

My vote is to maintain the banning...

For the record, I really dislike having to be the one to say this.

To my knowledge, we've gone through this at least 2 times already with KR. Every time, he has (at least as far as I could personally tell), been pretty genuine in his remorse and in stating his desire to improve himself. However, every time, he has also inevitably, and unfortunately, reverted back to his more...antagonistic persona that many people know/have known him for.

Now I for one, do not believe that he has ever done/does this (reverting back to his "old self") intentionally. Rather, given the wide variety of personalities that we have here amongst the many members here, there obviously are certain ones that just rub KR the wrong way, and that, despite whatever effort he has made to try and better control his temper, he just cannot help but react/over-react the way that he has become known for. Those same members that often had conflicts with KR are still here (and no, I'm not naming names, but us staff do have an idea of who these people are). They, in my personal opinion as a member here (but not as a member of the staff), are JUST as much at fault for the arguments/conflicts that they would get into with KR. The only reason why none of them were banned while KR was is that KR would lash out more angrily/with more "rage" and would overall be more of a disruptive presence than they were. The other members often kept the arguments/conflicts going, but KR would often be the one that would elevate them beyond what they needed to be. If/When contacted by staff members here, KR would, more often than not, either keep pushing the issue or make various comments (like how he was being singled out/treated unfairly when other people were doing/saying the same or worse, or like how the HJU staff doesn't act like how a staff should and how we let people get away with stuff that we should not be allowing, etc.). At least if we contacted the other members involved in the argument and asked/told them to stop and back off, they would usually comply. This is why, as a result, KR would usually end up being the one who'd get booted/suspended/banned.

He's been booted before for being too much of a disruptive presence. We've let him back in to give him another chance. After an initial period of relative calmness, he once again became a disruptive presence and had to be booted...again. Now we're supposed to give him a third chance and hope that this time he will NOT become disruptive/antagonistic when the same members that he would keep getting into arguments/conflicts with are still here? I'm sorry, but I just can't see that happening. All things considered, KR DOES bring a fair bit of knowledge and a unique perpective to things and, when he's calm/not in an argument, he CAN be quite thoughtful and intelligent/logical in discussions here. However, as much as I would like to see KR back, after having gone through this already with him and seeing what ended up happening when he was let back in...I cannot say that I'm confident enough/have enough faith in him that he would not be able to keep his temper in check and find better/more appropriate ways to deal with the conflicts/arguments he would keep getting into. In a perfect world, KR would/could simply avoid/walk away from any situation here that appeared to be becoming a conflict. However, we all know that the world is not perfect and we all know that chances are, given his past behavior, KR would not be able to walk away 100% of the time when he should.

KR was not even asking to be let back in (re-read the 4th paragraph of his message and you'll see him specifically state that that was not why he sent the message), but even if he was, I cannot help but forsee him getting into the same arguments with the same people, causing the same disruptions, and eventually getting banned AGAIN. So yeah, if we're now supposed to be considering whether or not KR should be reinstated here, I'm sorry, but as both a member and someone on the HJU staff, I have to say/vote no. He's been banned, he's been given a second chance. He fucked that up, so he got banned again.

As an old saying goes, "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

No.

For the record, I do not have any personal beef with KingRanger, but I agree with everything JFC said. Leave things the way they are, especially if it'll all just be the same song and dance all over again.

The head of hju knows what they're talking about! He has been given a lot of chances. They gave him a perma ban for a reason. You guys let him in again, what does that say about the people that are in charge of this place? I see no change in this guy! I vote no

Well regardless on who says what, the ones who get the final vote are the mods. Only they get a final say in this and it appears that KR's still gonna be banned. In a way, they're right. KR's made the same mistake twice and rules are still rules. God knows if KR will go back to his old ways or not and the mods need to be fair to everyone. Otherwise, there's no order.

i have no opinion one way or the other, rarely spoke to the guy

This. I don't trust him one bit.

We forgive you KingRanger!!

Well, I do at least.

Come to think of it, I was a bit of a dick to him too and back in 2010 when I was going nuts about the whole Viacom thing KingRanger kept making negative replies about not supporting the whole Power Rangers on Nickelodeon, and I unprofessionally told him to "**** off".

Personally I still think that it still sucks that Power Rangers is on Nickelodeon. As much as I respect them for making cool shows like Ren and Stimpy, etc.. it's Nickelodeon's fault that Power Rangers now has to have this 20 episodes a year rule and that Saban keeps making these annoying "Super" versions of the previous season. The thing is, Nickelodeon aren't very keen to air 3rd party shows, and if they owned Power Rangers as a franchise then they would make more episodes and give them more airtime because they've did that with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (which they now own the franchise to), but Nickelodeon only own the rights to air the show, so.. yeah.. But I still think the whole ranting about it at the time was not worth it.

But all that's irrelevant because I pretty much regret telling KingRanger to **** off, it was unprofessional on my part, and as a supporter of freedom of speech, I should've let KingRanger say whatever he wanted to say (no matter how repetitive an annoying it was) instead of acting like a 5 year old whenever someone disagrees with my opinions.

So yeah, KingRanger, I don't know if you'll ever read this but I'm sorry man!! I apologize for my bullshit and I would like to take "**** off" back!!

Meanwhile, as for his recent ban, I don't know what he got banned for but if he promises never to do it again then let him back in, and if he does it again then ban him again. That's just my suggestion.

Well that's my part said!!

I hope it's OK to ask this, as I think it would help some people make a more informed vote: When you say KingRanger was banned before and allowed back, do you mean he has already had a first or second perma-ban taken back? Or just that he went through the regular ban/infraction system and was always allowed back?

Firstly, as far as I know, there is no actual vote taking place. KR is not/was not asking to be allowed back/unbanned here at HJU. Therefore, any talk that's taking place of voting to allow him back is pretty much moot. Keith likely threw the "What if?" question out there to guage what people might be thinking, and I only mentioned it in my previous post to state my POV on the matter.

Secondly, to reply to your inquiry, yes he was permabanned once before. That ban was supposed to stick, however after a certain period of time (I do not remember how long it was, nor do I specifically remember the circumstances under which it happened), and despite at least 2 or 3 of us staff members telling him that we believed that it was not a good idea and that it should not be done because, as the name implies, a "permaban" should be "permanent", Keith decided to give KR another chance and unbanned him.

Things actually went fine with KR for the first few months, however after starting to get into arguments/conflicts with the same members again and again, he was soon behaving the way that he was that forced us to ban him the first time. Eventually, the staff decided that this second chance was not working out after all, and KR was banned again. That was/is his second banning and is the current one he is on now. If we let him back in, as Keith asked about, it will be his THIRD chance here at HJU.

Plain and simple, as it stands now, KingRanger is NOT being unbanned/not being allowed to return as a regular member here at HJU. I do not speak for each individual member of the HJU staff, however, based on our past dealings with/discussions about KR, I am pretty confident that this is the actual stance we're taking on the matter. Any other staff member who feels otherwise/contradictory to anything I have said in this thread is more than welcome to voice/state their opinions here.
