Shoujo anime often gets overshadowed by shonen titles, but honestly, it has some incredible storytelling and character development. Shows like "Fruits Basket" and "Ouran High School Host Club" teach us so much about friendship, love, and personal growth. The emotional depth and relatable struggles in these series can resonate with anyone, regardless of age or gender.

I recently rewatched "Fruits Basket" (both the classic and the 2019 reboot), and wow, the themes of acceptance and healing are still so poignant! The character arcs are beautifully explored, especially Tohru's journey of resilience.

What are your thoughts on shoujo anime? Do you have any recommendations or hidden gems that you've loved? And why do you think it doesn't get the same kind of attention as other genres? Let's chat about it!

Absolutely agree! Shoujo anime really does have an incredible way of weaving deep emotional narratives that can hit home for so many viewers. "Fruits Basket" is a classic for a reason; the character development is just on another level, particularly with Tohru and her unwavering kindness. I think part of the reason shoujo doesn’t get as much attention is that people often associate anime with action-packed plots and epic battles, which shonen titles tend to deliver more of.

If you're looking for hidden gems, I’d definitely recommend "Nana" for its complex characters and relationships, it's a real emotional rollercoaster. Also, "March Comes in Like a Lion" beautifully captures themes of loneliness and personal growth, blending shoujo with a bit of slice-of-life that I think resonates universally.

What do you think makes a shoujo anime stand out to you? Is it the character arcs, the art style, or something else?
