I think Englund was really hoping he could play Freddy again, and probably didn't want the pity offer of a cameo.

In some cases it makes sense for major recasts when doing a remake. In this case... they really should have brought him back.

Honestly, what I'm most worried about is whether or not they're gonna take away Freddy's signature sense of humor. One of the things I liked most about him as a character was that he wasn't some stoic dead guy in a mask, but rather that he always seemed like he was having fun.

C'mon, he killed a kid using a power glove!

I would have agreed 100% until I actually saw Haley Jim Herman or whatever the **** his name is in Watchmen & then in this trailer. I like this guy, he's pretty damn good.

Nope, Thomas Dekker is in this movie...

I believe he was actually promoting this movie at the FanExpo convention in Toronto... some horror company was sponsoring him so he was able to sign for free. Though a lot of people (including me :sweat went to get Terminator stuff signed instead. He was really cool about it though... he's a nice guy.

That's awesome. I liked Dekker in T:TSCC.

I had my doubts until I heard that Jackie Earl Haley was playing Freddy shortly after Watchmen was released and I was seriously impressed thinking "Holy ****, Rorschach is playing Freddy Krueger!" I'm not entirely getting my hopes up, but I've enjoyed most of the major horror remakes so far.

Though this does bring to mind (at least mine) who will be playing Willie in the V remake, as Robert Englund played him too, but that's another topic altogether.
