Favorite Final Fantasy Game?

Personally I'm partial to I, IV, and Tactics. Had loads of fun with Crystal Chronicles though. Also I'm fond of XI but it was just a bad and unforgiving MMO in general. It was an uphill battle to do just about anything for any job below level 50.

I'm a little biased with IV since it was my first FF back when it was known as II for SNES but it had solid gameplay, solid music, a nice cast of characters, and a decent story. The little Star Wars homage they had near the end was kind of cool too.

Tactics was just so different in terms of everything, gameplay, characters, setting, etc. It felt more like a realistic Renaissance setting rather than the typical pseudo steam punk with outlandishly dressed teens in revealing outfits wielding giant swords. Tactics Advance was kind of a step backwards though....

I'll go over the ones I've played.

Final Fantasy I was alright, the villian was kinda lame, but at least his idea made sense...slightly, still nowhere near as good as Phantasy Star was.

Final Fantasy II and III were kinda dull and nothing special.

IV was an incredible game, even with a crummy translation at first, it still is a game I remember quite fondly, even though Zemus/Zeromus was kind of a lame villain.

V probably had the best villain in Exdeath, whose plan to control the void made him extremely dangerous, that and the Galuf fight where he refuses to die even after being blasted with nearly every spell in the game.

VI was alright, big cast of characters, which kinda diminished the supposed main character's role in the story, and Kefka wasn't exactly a great villain.

VII is overrated, plain and simple. Horrible story, plot, characters. This is probably the first Final Fantasy where you really notice things like "plot convenience" just to keep the paper thin story going and sometimes just "pulling it out of your ass" to make the story make any sense.

VIII is just utter crap, with the exception of Zell. I won't going into detail, see for yourself.

IX is fun, Zidane was a welcome change over Cloud and Squall. The last boss makes like no sense and kinda comes out of nowhere and the story isn't exactly well written, it's just done better in my opinion over VII and VIII(Kinda like Raiders of the Lost Ark/Temple of Doom comparisons.)

X has way to many unskippable cut-scenes and very few likable characters. I did however like the build on Sin, as he came off as extremely powerful, till you get inside of him and your last fights are just Aeons all over again and Yu Yevon...what a way to kill Sin's momentum.

X-2 put me to sleep, though one or two characters were kinda amusing.

XI is crap, takes forever to get anything done, plenty of better MMOs out there with WAY more to do.

XII is interesting, I don't see how Van is the main character at all, since most of the story revolves around Basch, and the only reason Van was put in was to have an anorexic bitch boy at the head since they felt Basch couldn't sell the game.

Tactics is the best, bar none, don't bother with Tactics Advance, just the original or it's upgrade, War of the Lions. I don't I need to even tell you why this one is so much better than the rest, if you've played through it, you know.

Mystic Quest was kinda strange, that's all I'll say about it.

I don't really count Adventure as a Final Fantasy since it's really the beginnings of Secret of Mana, the same for Legend, since it's the Saga Series.

II's biggest problem was GRINDAN that was pretty much what you were doing most of the time more so then most of the other FF's, grinding. It had a unique system though.

I'm not sure whether to contribute FFXI's steep learning curve to the game or the community. The gigantic amount of gil seller's early on and Square's moronic decision to stop them much later than they should have (about a year or two after the game has been out) destroyed the economy of the game. So because of that people can enjoy paying 10k gil for lvl 5 equipment and players not aiding each other because they barely can help themselves. :redface2: Seriously if you had gil and people willing to help you things go by so fast in FFXI. When I was wealthy in game (Hey 1 Mil gil was $5, thats how in control the gil sellers were) and had a few linkshells helping me I got my Airship pass, SAM, NIN, and DRG jobs all in one day.

I got into FF in 2003 or 2004 and the first game I EVER played was FFX:buttrock: Best game I ever played in my life!....until Persona 3 and 4 came along:laugh:

I liked (not in any order):
IV, VI, VII, CC:FFVII, DoC: FFVII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, XII, Tactics, Tactics Advance, and Dissidia.

So I can't really vote.

My favorites are I, IV, VI, and Tactics. I like the others, but those really stand out for me.

I'm actually re-playing I now.

To be honest I did like XII a lot more than X (the sequel and secret ending killed it for me), but one of the core reasons I like XII is because of the jizz worthy voice acting and the dialogue that goes along with it. Especially Basche and Gabranth.

Dissidia's fun too but so broken and abusable.
