I went to 4Kids.com to watch KR Dragon Knight but I had a problem!!!

Thank GOD for Youtube and VeohTV. If it weren't for that I'll never watch the "Japanese" Tokusatsu and Anime and Manga. I'm bored of watching English Power Rangers and English cartoons.

Felt like bringing back this topic because I noticed a fair few UK toku fans as of late, probably been around for ages but I'm blind sometimes, but oh well tis always good to get a chat going, question to UK tokuites, do any of you go to cons?

Another thing..

Since Shinkenger's not gonna be adapted into a Power Rangers series and MMPR is getting this crappy remake in the US, wouldn't it be great if a British company brought the rights to Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and dubbed it into English for the UK, and if successfull do the same with Goseiger and other upcomming Super Sentai series?

Wouldn't that be great? If France had Bioman then why can't we have Shinkenger?

Japanese culture is actually becomming more and more popular in the UK. Manga comics and Anime DVDs becomming more and more popular (OK maybe not as populkar as say... Big Brother, but still popular at least), and more British people are playing Sudoku, we've had Banzai which is a spoof Japanese betting show, there are British game shows that imitate Japanese game shows, there's been many documentaries about Japan..

Shinkenger is a Japanese themed series. If so many British people like Japanese culture why not give us Shinkenger? I think Shinkenger would be a great addition to Channel 4. Just put Shinkenger on before The Simpsons and Hollyoaks, and if successful maybe add some more Japanese Tokusatsu and Anime shows and who knows, with CITV gone Channel 4 could have a competitor to CBBC!!

And while we're at it, to impress Johnathon Ross lets have Ultraman too!!

Haha you make it out to be something more than a kids show XD sure it may get some attention via channel 4 but there hasn't been anything remotely close to shinkenger on there since the 90s with godzilla and that was shown at like midnight. What I do hope to see is if any british company is willing to adapt shinkenger, I've always wondered what would happen if we got a UK adaptation of sentai, or kamen rider for that matter, usually you see all these toku adaptations with americans, but never with british people in the lead, the closest we've ever got really is Doctor Who in terms of original tokusatsu close to the current tokus in japan. Wouldn't it be cool to see a sentai fight in like a city you know, hell I know some perfect spots where toku shows can be filmed and it has a similar landscape to the japanese city scenes reused in sentai and kamen rider and is usually barren most of the time too.

Though I really doubt it'll happen, all those shows you mentioned, are they still even running these days? If anything I think ultraman may be the first to be adapted if the UK ever got the urge, mainly because of Johnathon Ross really :laugh:

I have heard that "Monkey" was aired on Channel 4 but I never watched it. Why it was put on during midninght however is completely beyond me.

No thanks!! I'm tired of adaptations. I wouldn't mind a British adaptation if the Japanese original is gonna be say... released on DVD or something like that, but that rarely happens and it's becaise of these adaptations that the Japanese originals never make it to these shores.

Yeah for something orginal and British madce we should take pride in Doctor Who. Who needs a Britsh adaptation of Shinkenger anyway? They're probably gonna say.. replace Shiba Takeru with some unfunny guy who looks like he's off T4.

The closest to proper Japanese Tokusatsu we got was the Cutie Honey movie starring Eriko Sato being released on DVD. You should be able to find it at HMV.
