Doug Sloan: The Good

It's so funny to switch from a board were most people like Doug and his shows (well, DT at least, I seem to be one of the few people in existance who liked NS.) to here, where most people apparently hate Doug. Eh, whatever. I stand by my original statement that both were good seasons.
your not alone, I liked both as well...

Don't let it turn you off from HJ. I'm an open minded guy but I hate NS with a passion but as you can see I've even made a thread for us to talk about the good Sloan did in his return.

And I highly respect somebody who stands by their convictions. It's no secret that I absolutely hated Ninja Storm and well... Dino Thunder didn't do much for me, but if you liked 'em, all the better and I'm glad.

As a Power Ranger/Tokustatsu fan we're all familiar with the masses hatin' on our stuff, but we stand by them cuz we like and love what we do. And you do the same.

Yeah... not a fan at all of Doug Sloan's work, but I highly respect those who stick to their guns, no matter if it's unpopular to do so or not.

What board did you come from where people liked DT and NS?

Rangerboard. A place where no one would respond to my difference of opinion as nice as you two have.

Definitely NOT turned off to HJ. :)

I liked Doug Sloan, Ann Austen and the rest, well enough. Whether fans loved him or hated him, he still interacted with the fandom more so than anyone else did after Lost Galaxy.

Ninja Storm was polarizing season to say the least. Personally I liked it for it just being dumb fun. It came across as a much needed change of pace at the time. I wouldn't want every season to be like Ninja Storm by any means but I feel something like that is okay every few years or so.

Dino Thunder was basically a year long fanwank. Bringing back Tommy, Legacy of Power, Fighting Spirit and what was probably the closest we'll ever get to a PR/Sentai crossover.

And like what JC said, he stuck to his guns. But at the same time he did listen to the fans. For example, Mesogog's characterization was a direct response to the criticism over Lothor's shenanigans.

Sloan production team did their best to cater to longtime fans while still continuing to do what they felt was best for the true audience of the show, the little kids. I didn't agree with all the decisions that went down but I at least respected the intentions behind them.

Theres a reason I posted "The Spunky NinjaSaurus Rex" Doug`s contributed more than just PRNS and DT. Zeo was one of the best dialoged and executed seasons, whenever I point someone in the direction of the best point blank season post MMPR, I show them PRZ.

Doug`s writen work isn`t the only thing he gave us. He gave us his ear, he tried to appeal to many faucets at once. The ONLY crime I can ever convict the man of is being too nice. :confused2

The only reason that Anti-Sentites people always prefer Doug Sloan than others because Doug has made Sentai away from PR and do their own NZ footage.

I don't like Ninja Storm but only one episode that I liked. Dino Thunder was a great but it's not the best season of PR. It's just.... Doug, Conner and Trent ruined DT. You know what I mean?

Doug did alot of great things. I loved Lothor and company. Loved Mesogog. He brought back Tommy. Samurai's Journey, Legacy of Power, ThunderStorm, Fighting Spirit. Some great freaking episodes!

I loved NS and I liked DT. Doug did some great things, he doesnt deserve BS. Oh, by the way. Doug was executive producer. Not JUST a writer. He had ALOT of say what went on in both seasons. Meaning, he DID have part in bringing Fighting Spirit to our TV screens.

My closing statement: Sure. NS and DT could have been better. I have my nit picks but that time is over. What's the use of bitching about it now? It will never change. All I can do is try to enjoy what we got and I can safely say I enjoyed myself during those seasons. For better or for worse.
