I guess I think it's a shitty name since almost everybody in my country only knew it as "God Gundam" and are pretty much used to it... So hearing that it was "Burning Gundam" somewhere else just now takes a lot of getting used to... Though I admit that it makes sense for Shining -> Burning...

Yeah, "Burning Gundam" does sound really cool. And like you said, it makes more sense to go from "Shining Gundam" to "Burning Gundam". But "God Gundam" sounds cool too, but not cool as "Burning Gundam".

For a localized name, Burning Gundam actually makes sense since it's attacks involve heat or heat related names and the ring on it's back looks like it's on fire. Plus, it sounds like an actual upgrade name from Shining->Burning and it even keeps the "-ing" motif with Rain's Rising Gundam.

That being said, God Gundam makes more sense title wise and it still sounds cool.
