Exactly at least they put it in.

They put it in, but they didn't try to make the design look great. They seem to be going in another direction, showing off how awful the original Kirby design would look if you tried to make it with period-accurate materials. I think it's fair to be disappointed by this.

That said, I'd expect Marvel to give Cap a "modern" superhero movie take on the classic costume in the Avengers movie anyway. So I think fans of the original will get their due eventually. It's just kinda weird that it... uh, won't happen in Cap's own movie.

I'm also not totally convinced the USO costume is mocking the Kirby design. I think it's probably mocking the 1944 Captain America serial produced by Republic, if it's mocking anything in particular. The serial tried to emulate the exact look of the comics costume and... uh, failed. Badly.

They are not mocking anything. They are making a movie based on Captain America. They are setting it during WW2 when he was first active. They have the core suit design, and they have the right group of characters. There is no mocking going on. I am not sure why people even use that word describing this movie. If some people have a problem with it, I would suggest they not see the movie in protest, and go buy the comic books. Fans of the original suit have the original to look at. They have decades of comics to read. Again, if the suit is such a HUGE issue for those people, and they just can't get past it... I know of many comic stores they can check out.

What works in one visual medium, will not always work in another. I think the cap suit in this movie is a nice blend of new and old. It also is faithful to the spirit of what Cap's suit should be. You also have the flip side. X-Men 1 had that all black leather, and IMO, it was awful. They didn't even try to make it closer to the spirt of the comics. You want to use the word mocking, they mocked the X-men uniforms in that movie. "Would you prefer yellow spandex". I am glad first class had at least a resemblance to the comics uniforms.

Exactly, it seems as these movies (Iron man, Thor, Hulk) are all set in the ultimate marvel universe so they didn't have to put Kirby's costume in but they did along with his old shield, but fanboys will always find some thing to bitch about

They're not set in the Ultimate universe. If they were, Ed Norton's Hulk would have been a cannibal and yelling about Freddie Prinze Jr.

and as I said before dismissing any critical thought or complaint as "fanboy bitching" is really fucking cheap. As cheap as if I were to be writing off your like of something as blind, stupid acceptance of anything that comes down the pike as long it's shinny.

You have to understand though: what you consider critical thought or complaints, other people just see as Petty nitpicking. neither you or they are wrong. You find things to complain about and that's your choice, but not everyone is going to agree. And yeah you could be that way. You could just write off people as you described. That is your choice. If that is how you really feel. And I honestly do see it as nitpicking. I mean the thing with thor's helmet was nitpicking to the extreme :P

King, at the moment you are the one making a bigger extreme out of Thor's helmet. I never said the thing with Thor's helmet ruined the movie but it is apprently something that seems to have stuck in your craw because I mentioned at all and I guess that's harshing your buzz on it somehow.

I said that I liked the movie but it bugged me the helmet wasn't there especially after they had bothered to have him in it for the first scene and that Loki, Heimdal, etc. were featured in theirs. Thor's helmet is a very basic feature of his look that distinguishes him from other characters. Not a deal breaker, but it's irksome. I see nothing about Thor's helmet for the film-makers to be ashamed of.

Also, in the previous post I said that's how anything that wasn't total praise was being written off. As "fanboy bitching".

This thing of how you put it "finding things to complain about". You're still taking the same dismssive tact. Oh no, someone's arguement couldn't possibly be valid in the least because it could only be they were already in search of something to dislike. That's like me saying you go to a movie already kissing its ass as the coolest thing ever before the opening credits even roll. But I seriously doubt that's actually the case at all.

I don't go to something looking to dislike it, or with an eye towards over analyzing it but I will call something like a see it and I will have an opinion on preview materials because there is nothing wrong with having an opinion what it looks like we could be getting. ..and if something looks like crap but ultimately turns out out be gold, then awesome!

Your argument is valid, TO YOU. It's not to me because I don't agree with it. Can you see the difference?

Seriously, you just can't stop can you? Other peoples opinions, arguments, whatever the conflict is... you unbelievably thrive off of it. Dude, one of theses days it's going to come back and bite you in the ass. So why don't you quit it and do something productive for once in your life??

I am discussing this with matt. I see his point of view, and I am disagreeing with it. If you can't handle that, that is just to bad. Now since you chose to take this off topic, I will get it back on topic.

Some one mentioned the 1990 captain america movie's suit. I think that was one of the things about that movie I enjoyed. If they could do a high quality version of that suit for the avengers movie, I think it might make all the fans happy.

Then let me answer that by asking if you see the difference between accepting a difference of opinion vs. saying that any opinion that isn't positive in inherently without even the slightest possible merit?

Quality is the key. Like I said in another post, for the 1990's movie they kept the look but went cheap on the materials so of course the overall effect is bad. But how bad it looks is not a flaw of design but a flaw of construction. Still can't fathom why the hell they put fake ears on that suit. But this is also the same movie that gave us Red Skull as an Italian playing a piano so questionable decision making seems to run rampant with the production of that film.
