Cannibal Holocaust is just F***ED

How am I a redneck!???! *frowns*.

Keep that accent to urself. It's ok to be a Canadian redneck.

Might I remind you guys that last year I was in nursing. So far nothing has made me vomit. Not that I've seen ALOT of fucked up ****.

Knowing that it's a fake movie would help...but like...for instance I saw one of those videos where the Al Queda sawed off that soldier's head...and that kinda bothered me. I didn't have nightmares or anything but...*shrugs*

I found some pics from the movie...they looked bad but nothing horrid. If I found a copy of this I would probably watch it, just to say I have.

Don't watch it.

No, it was legit. People thought it was a snuff documentary and Ruggero Deodato was forced to appear before an Italian court with his lead actors to prove it was all staged. The same thing happened to the creator of the Guinea Pig Films, I believe, after Charlie Sheen saw The Flower Of Flesh And Blood at a party and thought it was real.

Yeah I remember that. It was the directors fault though. To play up the believability that it was a real documentary, the actors had to sign a contract forbidding them to appear in any other movies for a certain period of time.

That movie is the holy grail of Shockumentaries, and I've always wanted to see it...

You're in luck! Grindhouse Releasing just recently put out a deluxe edition DVD release.

I'm not going to tell anybody what they should and shouldn't watch, but I know what it's like to view something mindfuckish and not be able to unsee it. I'm not as phased by graphic depictions of violence as I am by disturbing themes (like in early David Lynch/Shinya Tsukamoto films), but shock films like Cannibal Holocaust aren't for everyone. Generally you either have to be insane or have a very strong sense of humor and stomach, or be into niche films. It's not fine art; it may not even be a statement of any kind, but there is something oddly artistic about it, which is why films like this have always had a kind of exotic allure.
