Apparently, Saban stole my idea...

That's right, Shogun_Master. You stroke that ego of yours until you cover yourself in ego juice.

:rofl: I don't think he's being egotistic. I think he maybe be seriously ignorant. I don't mean that in a douche way, I mean I think he lacks the understanding of story telling/writing.

Yes, I realize that the story is mostly Shinkenger and, no, I'm not actually saying that they stole anything from me, I'm just annoyed that the same exact backstory occured to them that did me, and I did it first.

The only differance between theirs & mine was that I actually explained where the damn powers came from, and thank god none of the rest of my series occured to them, because I'm really fond of it and pride myself on making a bit more sense than Tzachor does when I write...

Also, I'll ask people to actually read the first post and not just the thread title before they respond, because I'm sure the last three or four of you did not.

... Also, I have to say, this thread filled up faaaast!

Aside from this quote being thoroughly contradictory, isn't that pretty much the setup from PRS verbatim? By that reasoning, if you're going to accuse them of "stealing" your idea then you're equally guilty of pilfering from Toei's bank of Super Sentai concepts.

*face palm* yes, I know, I was just making a point. Although, the main differance would be that they made a profit off of theirs and I can't actually lay any claim to the fact that they stole an idea from me when we were both working on projects based on already existing content, especially when they had the right to and I technically did not, it's still annoying to turn around and find something similar to what you came up with, out of all the possible ideas in the world...

They can't steal an idea from a series they own . Technically , by writing that fanfic, you stole THEIR ideas and TOEI's concerning Sentai and Power Rangers.

Even if there's a line or two that's the same , you are not in the production or have any right to use any of their concepts or characters( though you can be inspired by them) , though its generally acceptable for non-profit use like you are doing. Besides, both have the same story and they have a right to their own products and you don't. It's about as asinine as Chaiyo claiming they own the Ultra Series even though Eiji never worked with them or was in Thailand at the time.

Even if you use the core concepts , it has to be "original" enough . The Lion King did it with Kimba , which was a ripoff ,while Robocop took a huge spin on Gavan.

I can understand why he's agitated. Coming up with storylines isn't easy, and when you strike one that you like and believe to be original, you're proud of yourself. And once you are able to flesh it out more and make it into a full-blown series, or fanfic in this sense, you really feel like you've accomplished something and to have someone seemingly "pilfer" your idea like that is demeaning in a sense.

You know I wrote down in my Game book years ago about an Idea of a Zombie game on an island, with you playing as an retired cop and other survivors working together to escape the island, but I don't go around saying "dead island stole my idea you guys"
