I couldn't bring myself to finish Fiveman, but I'm seriously considering trying again. I want to like it, but there's just something about it I can't quiet put my finger on.
It's THE Mega Man game for many people.
It's the reason this game alone has more fan soundtrack remixes than any other game in the franchise combined.
It's the game that defined the franchise and one of the main reasons why many people can't accept all the newer series and why MM9 and MM10 went back to its style instead of doing something creative.

This.
Great game, but I also feel it's incredibly overrated, when compared to some of the other Mega Man games out there.

I was the exact same way until a year ago. You can do it. Just keep believing it'll be worth it in the end and you'll get though it in know time. Your love of sentai will get you through it. If you don't like it, then at least you know you saw it and it wasn't your season.
Though, I don't see you hating it. It has a lot of redeeming qualities. I had times where I would start it, stop, then repeat. Because they're debut was beautiful, but after that you never know where they're going. Thing is, other than missing they're parents they just want to beat **** out of the villain group. Plain and simple. So throughout most of the series is filler, but they do have some good, entertaining filler. Which we could actually use nowadays.
Plus like with many 80's & early 90's series, their new mech and new villain arcs are incredibly exciting.
I disagree; between Rie/Maria's death and Ryu's wedding with Kaori, three years have passed; it's not that a cop out to imagine that once Ryu had finished mourning Maria, he decided to tell to himself "life must go on" and began to have feelings for Kaori, who has loved him since she met him
Inoue is obsessed with poorly written romances. I wouldn't be surprised if he literally thinks people are OK hooking up with a new woman right after their girlfriend has just died.
