Anime vs. Tokusatsu

To be honest...I'm more of an anime fan then I am a Toku fan. For one, Anime is alot easier to find for me. I'd rather not download, because the files will take up too much space on my computer and it'll slow it down plus I don't have the paitencs nor do I have the attention span to keep up with torrents . Not to mention that I don't wanna use up all of my DVDs so quickly.

I like them both equally, though.

Well jeez dude. There's no way we know that you're not just listing stuff off.
I could say the same about anyone else really. I've been into tokusatsu for years now so I've seen quite a lot throughout my life.
And there's definitely no way to take an antagonistic attitude all of a sudden. You didn't catch the slight bit of humor in FK's comments?
Honestly? No, because I know he's serious about his love for tokusatsu over anime/manga.

Seriously, so you're saying that any tokusatsu is better than the following: Berserk, 20th Century Boys, Monster, Vagabond, Eden: It's an Endless World!, Texhnolyze, Giant Robo, Paranoia Agent (as just some mainstream examples)? If so you really haven't seen any of these series and/or if you did you misunderstood them for what they are.

Hell even typical action series like Gantz, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Fist of the North, One Piece, and etc. are all better than any tokusatsu show period.

By default, I'm a tokusatsu fan, since I've been a lifelong Godzilla/kaijuu fan. I also think that Japan, besides the US, has done the best superhero stuff. You still get a LOT of that in anime. (The older stuff is far more entertaining, shows like 8-Man, Planet Mask, Gatchaman, Devilman, Casshern, Polymer, etc., etc.)

But today, both mediums have their feast and famine. Mostly famine.

Some tokusatsu today suck. You have a lot of entertaining stories, be it kaijuu eiga or superhero TV, but they also have their share of boring and pretentious stuff.

Most anime today sucks even more. They don't even try to be good or entertaining, or even be allowed to be unique! It's become an exercise in painfully milking out storylines, or perpetuating tired formulas. I think Naruto is absolutely overrated, I was never impressed with it. And most of the stuff currently available here in the US is bottom-of-the-barrel bullshit (especially when anime/manga fandom considers it to be "the best Japan has to offer"). I don't care what the emo kids say. Anime and manga are NOT excuses for spitefulness.

I love both mediums, and many of the shows of my favorite genres (monsters, superheroes and robots) that inhabit them. But in the long run, I love tokusatsu more. It's amazing that no matter what technique, the Japanese always found a way to realize denizens of fantasy! Meanwhile, Americans were always afraid of looking "cheap" and "cheesy," because they want to insult our intelligence with the mindless dogma of "absolute realism."

I've seen most of those and aside from Texhnolyze, 20th Century Boys and Monster, I don't think the others are anything special. Especially Berserk and its non existent ending. There are some really great anime out there, but the best of tokusatsu usually outdoes anime for me, even though I love anime and there are tons of anime series I like better than tokusatsu.

I'd disagree with that. Well maybe except for One Piece and some of JoJo's, otherwise I'm not the biggest fan of those shows.
