In my day of martial arts, our names for certain kicks were different from other schools of martial arts.
What's a bicycle kick to you?
And thanks for the advice!
I should've been more specific; the "kick" is really just a slang suffix, they're really just called
bicycles and they're usually number 1 or (at the lowest) 2 on the list of best overall things you can do for your abs. I didn't really read that particular article so I don't know what it recommends, but I myself usually do 4 to 6 sets of 50 "kicks," and if you're not burning and struggling for breath at the end of each set, try to slow the movement down and make sure you're lifting your upper body with your abs, not just pulling your head forward. You'll be bouncing shorties off your midsection in no time.
Situps are well and good, but remember, you're bending at the hips when you sit up, so you're mainly strengthening your hip flexors and low, low, lowest abs. Bending
at the abdomen, like in a crunch, puts more emphasis on the "six pack" region.
And if you're trying to lose weight as well, don't forget that explosive energy work (like boxing/kickboxing bagwork or sprint intervals) will work better than "aerobics" type workouts. And take some Scorch! Cause hey, why not?
