A little disappointed...Gokaiger

See, the Pixar movies I enjoy follow more along the line of Wal-E, or the Incredibles...which wouldn't match what Sentai does.

If we had a Sentai that took itself as seriously as the Incredibles, I'd be a very happy man. Oh sure there's humor-but it's character driven. More to the point, the characters are more fleshed out than Sentai has given us in a while.

That is one odd thing I should have touched on earlier.

Gai DID feel like the hero, and he didn't bug me nearly as much if at all, in Gokaiger's finale, compared to how he was in the Gavan special where he was just this loud idiot running around and making a lot of noise.

I noticed in the Gavan movie, possibly due to the short run time, that none of the characters besides Captain Marvelous were introduced or emphasized at all. For Gai this means you get the loud part of his schtick without the more heartfelt aspects of it. I guess this was the price we paid for seeing Captain Marvelous written as an actual protagonist for a change.

yeah, Marvelous was definitely the only well developed character through out the series. Joe was just there to cross his arms; Luka was an annoying bitch who thinks she's a smart ass; Hakase was the idiot who tried too hard to be funny; Ahim was just... there; Gai is just so fucking noisy. I cannot understand how could he be better than any of the Goseigers, let alone Hakase. there weren't any moments where I actually find them funny.

My personal opinion and interpretation of the Goseigers are they give off an aura uselessmess and patheticness and have no business being in sentai. They appear weak and goody-goody but are ultimately ineffective. They're not even the least bit funny. I felt Chikyuu Freshmen had more cred. They really ruined 199 Heroes for me and I keep wishing that somehow Gekiranger, Shinkenger, and Gokaiger came in that order so that the VS movies wouldnt have sucked for me. But that's just me and Im guessing I dont see it the way its fans do. I mean I still cant see how ppl can hate on OOO so I cn understand how ppl can enjoy and genuinely like Goseiger ( I rly just cant).

I can't understand how people can despise Goseiger so much with their guts, but geniunely enjoy something like Fourze. :P still can't compute that hairstyle.

I believe it's just differences in what ppl look for and how elements of a show take effect on them. I certainly respect ppl liking what I dont and even hating what I enjoy. The fun is always in discovering how different and similar ppl cn be on many things.

I readily admit that Gokaiger had it's bad moments and shows like Goseiger (and Kiva) have awesomeness in them (not that I see it). I guess my internal wiring really just lends me to be more convinced and impressed by Gokai and Fourze and hostile towards Alata and co. And myb that's how other ppl are too abt their own favorites.

Keith really gave an interesting example of how favoritism can affect a person's interpretation of something in the last HJU Radio. Go-buster freezing over chickens is just "quirky" to him and yet stomping enemies with a giant foot or Mojiakaring them with your feet makes him groan. I personally find Hiromu's weak point to be "ehhh, sure why not" and am a huuuuuge fan of Pen and Giant Foot switches.

So people can produce dozens and dozens of reasons why Gokaiger sucked for them and I will read them all and might even agree with some of those points, but as for myself, the parts that really worked for me are enough to make me love this season despite it's flaws and shortcomings. And nothing can make me change my opinion on that.

well, since you've said you respect Goseiger fans like myself, then it's cool. for a moment there, you sounded like you were going to bash the series. people should understand that even the Goseiger fans are aware of the series flaws, but instead they think we're brainless for liking such a series. which is pretty ironic because all of us like something others don't like despite the obvious flaws.

I also respect others for liking something I don't, but once they start bashing my favorite series to make it seem like they have better taste... I say **** this respecting ****.

I've always known that you're fond of the series and it was never about attacking people for their tastes. It's just me airing out my own opinions on the show/s and not the ppl that like them.

Yeah, ppl can hate on the show all they like but I wouldnt go as far as condemn others for being of a different opinion.

Although, I do kinda enjoy occasionally reading antagonism towards things I like because it makes me go, "WOW, I just dont see it". Likewise ppl praising something I loathe also mkes me go, "Wow, I just DONT get it." It makes me appreciate how different ppl cn be on several things and getting along with them despite those differences is the fun.

So yeah, I hate things I hate, but ppl that like them are cool by me. And I love things that I love and ppl that dont are just as cool.

Also, one thing Id have wanted on Gokaiger is a different Gai. I mean Im OK w what we got but I think Id have preferred a genre savvy fan of Super Sentai over an overtly hyper fanboy. It's hard for me to explain but I think a little less nerdgasm and more self-awareness wouldve made Gai stronger for me.

And to be brutally honest, first time I saw Gai I said to myself, I dont know how but just mke Basco the 6th Ranger instead. He grew on me though, like I said, Im ok w what we got.

I have to admit i was very excited for this show when it started, But it seemed to have messed up very quickly, And as i stated in another ancient thread the the downfall of Goukaiger would be its anniversary gimmick and that seemed to have pulled through, This show did almost nothing about its core team as if they didn't exist or something, it was always Merchandise, Merchandise, I personally found Boukenger a lot more entertaining and exciting than Goukaiger not to mention it had better music, And don't even get me started on the Zangyack, possibly the worst villains since the Gedoushu.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE GAI'S THEME!

I'm a Super Sentai fangirl myself and I wouldn't dare to show that side of me in front of any Sentai actors, let alone starting a conversation. I'm just too shy.
