I guess that saying "love is blind" is true. Especially when it's with the wrong person. And the fact that he did this to a 17 year girl more than 10 years ago should have been enough to stay away. But that's one thing.

However making a law for a student-teacher relationships illegal, even after 18 is crossing into dangerous territory. Since that's using the law to control personal lives, if we agree with them or not.

Not exactly. Laws serve to control our civil lives, and only to a degree that the choices we make don't have destructive or exploitive consequences on the welfare of others. Dictating who an individual can and cannot engage in a romantic relationship, especially when both parties are legal and consenting adults, is invasive and has no basis in true authority.

This is why i gotta stop taking breaks from the net. Ive been reading this talk through. It took me a good 5 minutes to look at this all. I say if she was or is 18 and decides this who are we to stop her? Just a bunch of people she'll never know existed. And if what i hear and see is true then they have no proof their relationship was bad when she was under the age of 18. Sadly not much can be done at this point, especially if she feels she loves him. Then it is a blind spot. I hope things go well for everyone involved in the end. And may the family he left for the younger one recover healthy and happy. Because this has got to be very hard on them. :/ I feel more bad for them then anything. Because to me it seemed like they got screwed in the end.

These two have dont nothing. The girl is or is over 18 now. So the guy is doing nothing wrong.
