<3 Love/Romance Advice, and Tips <3

women often want to look older to date older men, why? because older men are more "mature" (mentally) and women mature (mentally and physically) faster than men, so a 14 year old boy is not at the same level of maturity to a 14 year old girl. that's is why in many cases, you hear of 20 year old dudes going out with 16-17 year old girls, because those 20 year old dudes are at the same level with those 16-17 year old girls. but not everyone does this. and is not really 100% accurate. there are some exceptions.

I can't stand it when men whine about how it's their OMG BIOLOGICAL IMPERATIVE to date much younger women :redface2: And when people think it's perfectly OK for a man to have a girlfriend young enough to be his daughter or granddaughter, but not for a woman to have a young boyfriend. Case in point Aaron Johnson, you can't read an article about him at the moment without the journalist making a snide dig about his fiancee. Whereas if it's Mick Jagger knocking off another 20-year-old supermodel, no one bats an eyelid. I've dumped more than one guy for lying about his age ...

My lurve tips:
- do not try to juggle too many guys/girls at the same time. At one point I had 5-6 of them on the go (not actual boyfriends, obviously, just people I was "sort of" seeing) It was exhausting trying to keep dates straight, and I had to get a separate mobile phone
- don't be too stalkerish (learned this one the hard way )
- comedy ringtones, while amusing, are NOT sexy
- only slappers carry a spare pair of knickers in their handbags

My advice is really towards people going for girls/women, so just if you were wondering. Mainly cause I'm a guy who likes women, so yeah.

If you're good at something, make sure she can tell you know you're good at it. That's confidence, not "Yeah I'm so good at this" and never showing her. You don't have to glorify it, really, but it's okay to like what you do. It's also easy to make jokes about it. Being funny always helps anything you try to do.

Be natural. This might take some time to learn, but eventually as you approach people it'll be a lot easier. If you start groveling that's very bad. Don't try and stutter. Instead, treat her like a friend, if only a little. It'll probably surprise her that you're not trying to go for a quick bedrub.
Also, when you go out on dates or whatever, try to be natural there too. You don't have to go somewhere fancy or spend a lot of money; she won't care. There actually is a such thing as too nice. Holding a door open is one thing, interrupting her to do something you think she might like is another.

Branching from money, I can't stress this enough. Gifts are not the way to a girl's heart. I don't care what the hell Facebook or what have you tells you, you don't have to spend a dime to get a girl if you know how to keep her interested. When you do things cause you think it's "right", girls sense you're doing it just to impress her, and that makes it a lot harder. Usually impossible. Example: Valentine's Day. DON'T play it up at all. You can get her a simple card with a little message, but you should make sure she's interested.
If you get all mushy...yeck. And you don't have to do something just cause it's VDay. Really, the only thing you need to consider is her birthday and your anniversary. Even then, it's about the time spent, not the things you give.

Something else very important: DON'T BE CLINGY/NEEDY. This is terrible and bad and all-around not a good idea. If you start pining, don't call and say "I miss you so much". She'll feel the same way...but she won't call you about it. Do the unexpected, that way it's so much better when you actually see each other.

Above all, have fun with it. If you want a serious relationship, you don't need to push it. It'll come to you. Be subtle, funny, charming, etc. The serious moments will come just as often as the fun, silly moments. You don't need to be serious 100% of the time of a day you spend together. You'll know when you should and shouldn't need to.

I guess that's all I can think of. I'm not quite in a relationship yet, but I've pretty much followed this to a T, and I know we're both ready. We don't see each other more than a few times a month, but it's always great. No awkwardness at all.

EDIT: It helps that we've known each other for 2 and a half years, so we're pretty close friends already. But I tried a few years ago with her, and I made a lot of mistakes before I knew about these things, so yeah.

IDK, some girls get very upset if you don't give them anything on Valentine's Day - but do you really want to go out with someone that keeps demanding that you buy her stuff? :disappoin

Well, yeah, but I think it's better to buy things when you've been together for a while, not to make her become interested. I guess that's why. It's okay to buy things once in a while.

there is nothing wrong with dating people younger than you

I admire Hugh Hefner. just throwing that there.

Generally a girl you hook through presents is going to expect presents constantly. This ends up being the sort of woman who leaves you when you lose your job.

It's much better to draw interest to your personality and save gifts for special occasions. Or, give a lot of small and inexpensive presents-- this shows that you're thinking of her, but won't be the sort of thing that attracts gold-diggers.

I don't wanna knock anyone, but talking about problems is a heck of a lot better when you're already together. If you're being the therapist friend to a girl...that's what you're gonna be.
