The kid lived for the most part alone by himself in a Victorian mansion and refused to go outside due to the fact that he believed he would die from breathing in the air

If anything, I think Wataru's "emo" tendencies are derived from the fact that he's a victim of circumstance

He's not able to relate to anyone due to the fact that he's secretly a monster and the only person that can understand him is his everything he seeks to destroy and is to be engaged to his estranged half brother

Tell me, who wouldn't be an absolute emotional wreck after all that?

And that excuses him for being an annoying Emo how?
The moment, when his character broke and I couldn't care for him anymore at all was the whole travel to the past.
It was just like a teenager, when his parents refused to buy him iPad.
"they don't love me. I'm just a burden for everyone. I wish I was dead whaa whaa whaa".
Sure as far as he knew, he killed his girlfriend at that point and that could excuse him... But annoying build up before didn't help. Plus it was just really stupid.
"Mom, Dad please don' F**k or at least use condoms so that I won't be born". If my son came to the past to say that to me, I would've totally sterilized myself, so that this obnoxious selfish moronic douche would never jump out of my beloved's womb for sure. So if I was Otoya, Wataru's wish would've been granted.

I liked Ryotaro. He was weak physically, but apart from one or two scenes that are easy to overlook, he was pretty damn strong emotionally, always willing to go for rescue, donate his body for battles and trying to be helpful and kind to people. He was an example of how soft and kind people can still be badass and looked up to.
Agreed. While they did address his physical weakness somewhat with mentions of how Momo was trying to train him, what wasn't commented on is how Ryotaro starts as an 'emotionally weak' guy (that's not a good phrase but hopefully you get what I mean) - easily picked on, submits to anything rather than have a confrontation, resigned to his life as the whole worlds' butt-monkey, and totally dependant on his sister to look after him. By having to save his sister instead, having the Imagin forced upon him, and trying to figure out the mystery of Sakurai, he ends up at the end of the series much more confident, proactive, able to make decisions, willing to step up and defend people, leads the Imagin - directing their tactics in battle to an extent, and determined to look after his sister. He basically grows up and it's never pointed out or made a fuss of, just quietly allowed to happen. It's one of the reasons I think Den-O as a series is much more mature than it often gets credit for.
But when they're the age of KR's target audience (around 6-11) they should be bursting with youthful joy!
You sound like Gentaro!
There's a plothole in that though.

In flashbacks of Wataru and Taiga, Child!Wataru was playing outside. With no mask on.
There are always bits in the first episodes that are quickly dropped for good. It happens with lots of shows - they throw an idea in then discover that it can't really sustain itself. In the case of Wataru, his "allergies" were dropped and pretty much wiped from the series. The same with Ryotaro's constant accidents - while they gave it to Kotaro as a nod to his grandfather, they dropped it for Ryotaro once they realised that the joke was getting stale fast.

I wouldn't call him running away from fighting in Plat Form and getting the crap beat out of him by Momotaros "quietly allowing it to happen".

Too bad they couldn't ask Takeru Satou to drop his whiny squeak voice. >.>

It should've been Pain is SHOW TIME and featured Masato Wada.

Life is PAIN would be the emo acoustic version.

Did anyone see Wizard putting a ring on the police officer's finger? I hope the other characters will know his identity in order to help him out.

And this show better be good than how Kiva & Hibiki went. I'm cool with the violin but the story was terrible.

Here's a little advise. If at any point your character locks himself in the room and sits in the corner in fetal position saying how everyone's is hurt because of him and how world would be better without him and other whiny emo teenager bullshit... That character cannot be saved from the fate of being absolutely unlikable piece of ****. Doesn't even matter if that was something he overcame later. If it already happened, he doesn't deserve to be main character, no matter what he does later on.

But that's what made Evangelion so damn good. Shinji's tragic flaw of him not wanting to fight play off the drama of monsters who want to end the world.

I'm not saying he's not emo, I'm just saying characters like that are not the literal **** that you portray them to be.
