You know that TOEI can't do that.

Except they did and the show's name was Dairanger. Zyuranger also regularly did episodes without mecha battles.

You get no-mecha episodes from time to time to this day, usually if a big plot thing happens. Shinkenger had one and Goseiger's had at least one.

The idea of not showing the robot every episode probably makes Bandai nervous, but Toei has done it before and could probably do it again. I figure the default for Super Sentai is "robot every episode" because that's easier.

Show me the no mecha episode of shinkenger. They made it mandatory story wise to have a mecha battle in that show.

Actually i would prefer robo every other episode, sort of make 1 ep really 2 eps like Kamen Rider W. Better story telling that way.

Question in regards to the 2011 rumours, would Goukaiger be a full year series or would it be like Decade where it was only 7months or so?

The episode where takeru's true identity is discovered, then he goes off into the woods to see his father's grave, he encounter's Juuzo and that went off into a 2 parter.

Any deep arc with Juuzo didn't have a mech battle, if I recall correctly.

Episode 48. The first half of the episode continues directly from 47 and is a battle on foot with Doukoku. The second half of the episode is spent on resolving the True ShinkenRed plot. The last second life MotW is destroyed in episode 47 and Doukoku's second life doesn't appear until 49.

A lot of these episodes do have mecha battles! Shinkenger would often do a clever thing where they'd have the mecha battle at the beginning of most big Juuzou episodes, so it wouldn't have to upstage the plot stuff that was going to occur later on. There's one really awful episode, I can't remember the number for the life of me, but they just tacked on a mecha fight by having four giant enemy grunts with a cannon show up. That fight was, ah, short.

lol Woow, you're right. I stand corrected.

It was clever though, instead of the predictable mostly at the end eps.

I tend not to include 2 parter cliffhangers since they are intended to continue to the next episode.
But yeah, two parters rarely get a mecha fight.

And it's because of the 2nd life thingy.

Shinkenger went way beyond a two-parter. The last four episodes stick to only the basics of the Super Sentai script formula and largely flow into each other in serialized form.

It's perfectly possible to do writing like that, or two-parters, and still mandate a mecha sequence in each part. So I think it still "counts" that Shinkenger produced an episode with no mecha sequences.
