Agents of SHIELD: Producers Address Potential for Return of Bobbi and Hunter
When Agents of SHIELD began its second season, a lot of new characters were introduced. This was done to not only help set up the new status quo in light of the Hydra/Winter Soldier storyline, which saw SHIELD get demolished after it was infiltrated by Hydra, but also to give the team some new faces. Two of the most popular were Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter, who are currently gone from the show. However, the producers of the hit TV series addressed the possibility of the characters’ return.
In Agents of SHIELD, Morse and Hunter quickly became fan favorites for the show. Especially for Bobbi Morse, who is an actual Avenger in the comics by the name of Mockingbird. So to see her debut on the TV screen instead of the movie screen was pretty cool for fans. Sadly, the desire to expand Agents of SHIELD led to Bobbi and Hunter getting written off the show, so that they could have their own spinoff TV series called Most Wanted.
The twist here is that Most Wanted didn’t make it past the pilot stage, and because of how their story in Agents of SHIELD ended, it’s going to be a little difficult to work them back into the show. That being said, the characters are still out there. This is confirmed by the Agents of SHIELD writing team.
“Once an agent, always an agent, so it’s always out there in the ether,” executive producer Jed Whedon said to Entertainment Weekly. “But right now we’re taking a breather.” Agents of SHIELD executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen noted, “One can only dream. That’s always on our minds.”
So, the possibility remains that Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter could make a return. It may just be a matter of time. Agents of SHIELD is currently in its fourth season and airing on ABC.
