Voice Over Director Andrea Romano Retires
If you don’t know the name of Andrea Romano, that’s ok. She’s not an A-list star in Hollywood, she hasn’t filmed blockbuster movies or what have you. But her contributions to TV and film are very notable. Why? Because she’s the one who put the actors and actresses in the right roles as characters. And he did it well for 30 years.
Andrea Romano was a voiceover director, she helped cast characters for numerous animated shows and films, not the least of which was the entire DC Animated universe of the 90’s and 2000’s, and just about every DC Comics animated film that has come out in the last couple decades. So if you’re a fan of the Justice League Cartoon, Batman/Superman TAS, Batman Beyond, and others like that? You owe her a great deal of gratitude.
She was also instrumental in shows like Animaniacs, PInky and the Brain, the original DuckTales, Avatar: The Last Airbender, the recent Voltron series, and dozens of other shows and films and even video games!
“I shall miss so many aspects of this industry – particularly the people I’ve worked alongside, and all the fun that happens on both side of the glass. From the bottom of my heart, I extend my sincere gratitude to every actor, producer, director, engineer and colleague that has helped make this run so incredible,” Romano said in a statement.
To be clear, she is going to remain for a while, but a recent diagnosis that’ll affect her vision made her decide to start wrapping things up. The animation community won’t be the same without her, that’s a promise.

I do understand how hard it is for her to retire now, after 30 years of work, doing the thing she loves….it is unimaginable how it is to give up to something that is a part of you!

Well, too bad a health issue has prevented her from working longer, but I guess all good things must come to an end. At least she isn't diagnosed with something terminal, just an ailment that can affect her vision.
