The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songs & Snakes is the Prequel to Suzanne Collins‘ hit novel. The novel became a hit trilogy, and it spawned four movies. The Prequel will follow 64 years before Katniss Everdeen volunteered to become a tribute. Francis Lawrence will reprise directing the Prequel after making the first four movies. The Prequel will have the least likely protagonist. President Coriolanus Snow will be the main character. Donald Sutherland originally played him in the film, but a younger actor will play him this time. We will see Snow in his younger years before he got corrupted into a tyrant. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is the Next Hunger Games Film title. Fans of the Dystopian YA novels turned movie franchise will get to revisit PanAm and the Capitol that runs it. It is a prequel 64 years before the first movie. So You won’t be seeing the love triangle of Katniss, Peeta, and Gale because they are not born yet. The Prequel will let us learn how the Capitol became a Totalitarian government and why The Hunger Games became a tradition. Lionsgate already announced that this Prequel is already greenlit. The Battle Royale-inspired competitive survival game The Culling is coming exclusively to the Xbox One on June 2. Microsoft has announced that the title will be arriving through the Xbox Game Preview program.
Despite being one of the most popular recent movie franchises, the conclusion of the Hunger Gamers, Mockingjay Part 2, did the worst when compared to the other films. The biggest of which was Catching Fire, which made $173 million upon opening weekend, where as Mockingjay Part 2 did considerably less. When asked by Deadline as to what the reasons were for the massive drop, they cited both Star Wars and real life terrorists attacks:
