Superman And Lois Set For March 14 Return
The CW has finally set a return date for what will very probably be the last season of Superman And Lois. It’s a pity, really. It’s a classy show and Bitsie Tulloch has become one of our favorite Lois Lanes ever filmed. But the circumstances can’t be helped — the network is dying.
When we last left our red-undergarment-wearing hero, he had just defeated Ally Allston and was looking forward to some down time on the farm….as if that’s gonna happen. Naturally a new threat surfaces and this official description of the season tells more:
Clark and Lois are now working at the Smallville Gazette together and enjoying small town life. But the Kents’ romantic bliss only shines a light on how isolating “the secret” can be, as Chrissy struggles to balance a new love interest and her friendship with Lois. However, Lois’ own work-life balance is put to the test when an undercover assignment reveals a deadly foe that promises to change the Kent family forever. Superman would move heaven and earth for his family, but with a villain this merciless, even that might not be enough. Meanwhile, the Kent boys find themselves being pulled in opposite directions as Jordan discovers what a superhero-identity really means and Jonathan searches for purpose beyond the football field.
Amid all this upheaval, John Henry is haunted by his doppelgänger’s past, leading to dangerous consequences for him and Natalie. Lana Lang and Kyle redefine their family post-separation, while Sarah explores what the future holds for her and Jordan now that she knows the truth about his powers. Having learned the hard way that no one else can be trusted to work with Superman, General Samuel Lane reclaims his post at the Department of Defense, only to face his own conflict in working with his grandson, Jordan.
After Superman And Lois you can stay tuned for the premiere of Gotham Knights, but only if you really want to. I don’t know what more can really be said about Gotham Knights other than I’ve never seen a more blatant example of a “dead on arrival” series than this one.
You begin with the fact that fan reaction to the initial announcement was overall negative. It is about Batman being dead and his son trying to beat the rap for his murder, but even though Batman has a canon son, they can’t use Damian Wayne for some weird reason. Instead they had to invent a son out of whole cloth and barely anyone else in the series is a recognizable character either. There were also gripes that the set photos made the show look incredibly cheap, and well, consider the circumstances.
Gotham Knights is one of the last, possibly THE last, new show to premiere on The CW before it’s no longer The CW as anyone below the age of 60 knows it. Its new owners don’t want it and its old owners are on a cost-cutting cancellation spree. Its chances of renewal are slim to none — check that, PRECISELY none. No matter how it does (and it won’t do well), these 13 episodes are all that will ever be.
But at least we have Superman And Lois to keep around one last time. Enjoy what you can get. The third season premieres March 14.
