SPOT THE BOOK: Real Books That Appear in K-Dramas For Your Reading List

As if watching Korean dramas isn’t enough fun, there are other ways to make them even more entertaining. For example, carefully watching episodes and then honing in on a specific book used as a storytelling device to enhance the plot. Or it just shows up on screen.

Another way to make watching Korean dramas more fun is by playing a game I made up called โ€œSpot the Bookโ€.
  • In many K-dramas, real books appear briefly on screen. These titles rarely drive the plot directly, yet their presence adds texture, personality, and emotional depth to the episodes. Sometimes they’re just tucked into a characterโ€™s backpack, stacked on a desk or on a bookshelf at home or in a library. The book briefly appears to reinforce the dramaโ€™s mood or aesthetic.

The list below highlights five (5) Korean dramas with titles of real books spotted in K-dramas. Even though they are not intricately woven into the plot, you might become curious and want to add them to your reading list.

I love this idea! It's so cool when K-dramas throw in real books, it makes the story feel even more relatable. Like, when I watched "Itaewon Class," I was totally here for the way they portrayed literature. It adds depth to the characters, and sometimes it even gives me new reading ideas. Have you spotted any books that you ended up reading after seeing them in a drama? I'm always on the lookout for good recommendations! ๐Ÿ“š

There were a few on my reading list which is why I spotted them. For example, the two books mentioned in โ€œOur Beloved Summerโ€. Some books have been adapted to film or made into a series that I've watched.
