- Memorable Quote: “I have to find out why I became like this.”
SUMMARY: A private detective becomes a vampire after a mysterious incident and uses his newfound abilities to solve challenging cases while hiding his secret. As investigations pile up, he uncovers clues that may reveal the truth behind his transformation and a much larger conspiracy.
♦ We Were in Love, But My Partner Shot Me!
In “Vampire Detective”, Yoon San was a detective on a special crimes team until his partner, the woman he loved and trusted, shot him. Moments later, she and another partner got into a car that exploded. Because she shot him, Yoon San never got into the vehicle with them.
So what happened? Did she actually save his life?
Yoon San recovers from the gunshot wound, but he has yet to recover from the heartbreak of his lover’s apparent betrayal. No longer a police detective, he and a close friend open a private investigation agency. His skills transition naturally into his new profession, and he quickly proves himself an exceptional private investigator. However, his life changes forever when a mysterious incident transforms him into a vampire.
A doctor says Yoon San now has a blood type that doesn’t exist. Forced to live with extraordinary new abilities while concealing his condition from those around him, he uses his heightened senses and instincts to solve unusual and dangerous cases. Yet his greatest challenge is balancing the search for answers about his past with the growing number of complex investigations that come through his agency’s doors.
MEET the New Partners
Working alongside Yoon San is Yong Goo-Hyung, his trusted friend and business partner. Yong Goo-Hyung’s friendship, loyalty, and camaraderie provide much-needed emotional support. He handles most of the agency’s administrative and financial responsibilities, helping keep the business afloat. While Yoon San’s investigations regularly place him in dangerous situations, Yong Goo-Hyung remains by his side, offering encouragement and assistance whenever needed.
The team expands with Han Gyeo-Wool, an energetic and determined young investigator whose curiosity often places her in the middle of complicated mysteries. She originally comes to the agency seeking help in finding her missing brother. Once there, she never really leaves.
The agency doesn’t hire her. Instead, she inserts herself into their operations, determined to stay close until she uncovers the truth about her brother’s disappearance. As it turns out, Han Gyeo-Wool possesses skills that both supplement and strengthen the agency’s work. She also has connections to several cases that reveal surprising layers of the larger story. Her persistence, resourcefulness, and intelligence make her an invaluable member of the team.
Together, they work well as a unit and genuinely care about one another. At the very least, they seem far less likely to betray Yoon San than his former partners did.
The Lady Vampire Is Scary Evil!
A woman named Yo-Na Kang crosses their path. Mysterious, powerful, and dangerous, she is a vampire whose presence raises troubling questions that connect directly to both Yoon San’s past and present.
As Yoon San searches for answers about his transformation, he discovers that many of the investigations are connected by hidden threads. Someone appears to be manipulating events from behind the scenes, and that someone may very well be Yo-Na Kang.
My Former Partners Might Be Alive?
Each episode of “Vampire Detective” introduces an intriguing standalone case involving disappearances, suspicious deaths, hidden secrets, or unexplained phenomena. At the same time, every investigation contributes another piece to a larger conspiracy that gradually unfolds. During one investigation, Yoon San obtains information suggesting that his two former partners may not have died in the car explosion after all. Instead, it appears they may have faked their deaths. But why?

OCN (originally short for Orion Cinema Network) is a South Korean cable television channel known for producing and broadcasting popular crime, thriller, mystery, and supernatural dramas. It began as a movie-focused channel and later became famous for its original series, including “Vampire Prosecutor”, “Vampire Detective”, “Voice”, “Tunnel”, “Black”, “Possessed”, and “The Guest”.
OCN is owned by CJ ENM and has built a reputation for darker, more mature genre storytelling than many mainstream Korean TV networks. In the context of the vampire-themed universe, OCN refers to the network that produced and aired Vampire Prosecutor (2011-2012) and Vampire Detective (2016), two supernatural crime dramas that share similar themes of vampires investigating crimes and seeking justice.
