When you think about classic Batman graphic novels, one of the best no doubt is Arkham Asylum. From both a writing and artistic standpoint, this book showed just how dark the Batman universe can be. In it, Batman is forced to enter the Aslyum after the inmates take control. Once inside, he’s forced to fight a vast majority of them. It was this book that was the inspiration for the Batman: Arkham Asylum video game by Rocksteady. And now, it’s getting a sequel via the original writer Grant Morrison, and on art duties this time is Chris Burham, who Morrison worked with on their epic Batman Incorporated.
Now, in a twist, Arkham Asylum 2 will not focus on Bruce Wayne, but rather his son, Damian. And this will be an adult form of Damian who has taken the mantle of Batman. Morrison was the one who introduced Damian Wayne to the Batman universe, and not-so-ironicly debuted him in a similar format, as an adult trying to protect Gotham, and going to extreme lengths to do it.
Will this tie to that story? Hard to say at present, and currently there’s no release date for the book.
