The Flood Movie Review
What do you get when you combine a natural disaster film with a prison breakout adventure and throw some killer alligators into the mix? The answer is The Flood, arriving on digital and on demand from Saban Films on July 14th. Though movie fans who enjoyed the CRAWL from a few years back may look at the movie poster for The Flood and fear that the film is treading in similar waters to that suspenseful alligator horror film, rest assured, there’s a very different animal lurking below the surface of this 91 minute throwback thriller. If you remember browsing the shelves of the local video rental store and hoping for a pleasant surprise when you took a chance on an independent action movie, The Flood is definitely going to make you nostalgic for that experience. With just the right mix of action, melodramatic horror scenarios and humor, it delivers a fun experience that looking at the “video box on the shelf” only hints at. Given the imagery used in promoting
Sharknado Tenth Anniversary Marathon Spins Onto SyFy July 18
The modern B-movie fixation with sharks started long before someone thought of putting them in a tornado, but it was that moment that kicked the whole trend into high gear. Ten years ago the first, instantly meme-able Sharknado movie premiered on DVD and SyFy. Now, on the tenth birthday of the world’s most peculiar weather pattern, SyFy presents the Sharknado marathon, featuring every movie in the series that was ever made. Altogether six of these were pushed out, but the number of adjacent, shark-tornado-inspired disaster films with cheap effects must number in the millions by now. There are people who owe their careers, such as they are, to Tara Reid and her crew of warriors who bravely faced shark-engorged twisters time and time again. SyFy’s Sharknado marathon begins at noon and runs until 6 AM the following day. 12 p.m. ET/PT, SHARKNADO: THE 4TH AWAKENS 2 p.m. ET/PT, SHARKNADO 3: OH HELL NO! 4 p.m. ET/PT, SHARKNADO 2: THE SECOND ONE 6 p.m. ET/PT, SHARKNADO 8 p.m. ET/PT, SHARKNADO 2:
The Witcher Season 3 Part 2 Trailer
Princess Cirilla is the most popular girl in the world. Everyone wants a piece of her, which is a problem for Geralt of Rivia, self-appointed guardian and adopted father. Keeping your kid safe is hard enough in an enchanted world full of monsters, but when she’s destined to reshape the entirety of society, and everyone from high kings to lowly poopsmiths is aware of that, options for keeping her safe are thin. Netflix split the new season of The Witcher in half, premiering the first five episodes last month and saving the remaining three for the end of July. What we got out of those five was mostly setup, with Ciri trying to reach the fortress of Aretuza for further training. Apparently in Season 3B she will finally make it there, but of course, it won’t be what she expected. Never is. As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to
The Pod Generation, A future where mothers dont get pregnant anymore
The Pod Generation is a crazy concept that came from the mind of director/writer Sophie Barthes. In this movie, we will catch a glimpse of a future where women no longer become mothers through pregnancy. Currently, with the available technology, affluent women choose surrogacy instead of getting pregnant due to career considerations. They hire less privileged women to act as surrogates. However, surrogacy has sparked debates and controversies due to the exploitation faced by many of these paid surrogates. But in the future depicted in this movie, women no longer rely on surrogates, eliminating the need for such arrangements. This sci fi movie that felt like a Black Mirror episode stars Emilia Clarke and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The Pod Generation Official trailer A company called Pegazus produces a device called capsule pods. They are egg-like devices that injected the father’s sperm and the mother’s eggs. The parents must carry these capsules wherever they go because the baby inside the pod needed the parent’s attention. Rachel Novy (Emilia Clarke) has
L.U.C.A.: The Beginning | K-Drama | Make Better Humans
L.U.C.A.: The Beginning is a K-drama about a mad scientist who thinks he’s good enough to be like God. In fact, he’s convinced himself that he can make better humans than God. This Korean drama series is 12 episodes, released in 2021, currently streaming on Viki. As for the genre? It has elements of crime and mystery and elements of science that might have the viewer wondering if it’s science fact or science fiction. What or Who is L.U.C.A.? First, a woman supplied her ovum and a man supplied his sperm. You don’t need to be a scientific genius to know that is the beginning of human life. But! Suppose after you joined the ovum and the sperm, you combined human DNA with DNA from jellyfish, fruit flies, electric eels, and other animals. Now! Is the baby a human? A monster? A half-human, half-monster? A scientist posits that humans evolved from being Neanderthals to the intelligent homo-sapiens that we are today. But then we decided to stop evolving. Instead of
Abandoned GBA Shantae Game To Be Resurrected
We suspect, eventually, a sixth game in the Shantae series will show up. For now, it must not be ready, so developer Wayforward — who has been with the half-genie hero from the beginning — dug around in their basement and found a lost chapter in her saga. After the original Shantae was released for Game Boy Color to wide critical acclaim, Wayforward started tinkering with a sequel for the Game Boy Advance. But since the GBC original didn’t sell very well (it was one of the last games released for the system, and the GBA had been out for a year), no publishers were interested in a deal. Eventually the team had to mothball the code and sprites they’d made and move on to other projects. Shantae wouldn’t get to return until Risky’s Revenge was released for the DSi years later. Every now and then series director Matt Bozon would be asked about the lost GBA Shantae game, until finally recently he just said “why not bring it back.”
Clock Tower, Tomba And Other Lost Classics To Be Republished
One of the big announcements made by Limited Run Games this afternoon was the formation of a subsidiary devoted solely to remastering and reissuing older games for the new market. They’re calling this company “Carbon Engine” and they revealed some pretty big titles to start off with. The biggest is the translation and release of the SNES horror game Clock Tower, regarded as revolutionary and highly influential to its genre — yet until now, unreleased in its original form outside of Japan. Capcom declined to translate the Super Famicom version, and though remakes of the game have appeared in the US and elsewhere, the only way you could experience the original Clock Tower was a ROM with a translation patch made by a fan. In Clock Tower you play as a young girl trapped in a mansion and stalked by a figure wielding a giant pair of scizzors. The figure is slow, but so are you, and when you hear his footsteps, your choices are usually either running or hiding.
Some Madman Is Making A Spiritual Sequel To The CD-I Zelda Games
Limited Run Games presented its Not-E3 Conference this afternoon, and several bombshells were dropped (some of which we’ll get to in other articles), but there was one revealed item that says a lot about the market this company caters to. They were founded for the purpose of creating physical copies of good games, but they’ve found there’s an equally hungry and lucrative market for physical copies of BAD games. For example, LRG has been promising a full re-release for the 3DO stinker Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties for years now. They’ve finally pegged a September release for it and it will come with a documentary that features James Rolfe and Kelsey Lewin as guests. This follows a multi-year rollout for Night Trap that plastered that game across every single modern console in existence. The proverbial holiest of grails would be those nasty Zelda games Phillips was allowed to create for their CD-I system; the ones that have never died as memes since the Internet discovered their existence. But Nintendo will probably
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Now Streaming On Crunchyroll
Today is the day Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is finally streamable somewhere. This film became the top-grossing Dragon Ball movie ever when it was released last year, hitting #1 at the box office last August. Very few anime movies to reach that milestone in the US. Now you can find out if it’s worthy of that hype, as long as you have a Crunchyroll subscription. In Super Hero, the Red Ribbon Army has returned with a lineup of newer, more dangerous Androids created by Dr. Hedo, the grandson of Dr. Gero. The bots have just one objective: DESTROY ALL ALIENS! That pretty much affects Goku’s friends and family directly, and Piccolo leads the charge to fend off the vengeful Androids and save the Saiyan race. The dub version stars the English voices of Kyle Hebert (Son Gohan), Sean Schemmel (Son Goku), Robert McCollum (Son Goten), Christopher R. Sabat (Piccolo, Vegeta), Monica Rial (Bulma), Sonny Strait (Krillin), Eric Vale (Trunks), Kara Edwards (Videl), Jeannie Tirado (Pan), Zach Aguilar (Dr. Hedo),
