“The Impossible Heir” is a 2024 K-drama Hulu Original series, streaming on the Hulu/Disney+ platform. It has 12 episodes and is categorized as a Revenge Drama, Crime, Mystery, and Thriller. Yes, it is another Korean drama about an illegitimate chaebol heir. Yes, there is a love triangle. But the first few minutes of Episode 1 make you want to watch all the to The End.
♦ A Person is Never Invisible or Illegitimate and Can Sometimes Do the Impossible
In “The Impossible Heir”, Han Tae-O just wants to be successful. He’s got the brains to succeed. He is a human with flesh and blood just like any other human. Why should he be discounted or disregarded because of his father?
It’s a legitimate question that deserves an answer. Albeit, the method HanTae-O uses to get the answer, might be somewhat questionable.
Han Tae-O is a high school transfer student who moved to live in his mother’s hometown, a rural area in Maju City, and then got a job at a restaurant to pay his bills. He sees a guy in the local convenience store and it looks like he’s stealing. The guy is Kang In-Ha.
Han Tae-O runs into Kang In-Ha outside and he asks Tae-O why didn’t he say anything. After all, he saw him stealing. Han Tae-O says he didn’t care because the people don’t even see him, i.e. they don’t acknowledge his existence. WHY? Because Kang In-Ha may be a part of a wealthy chaebol family, but he’s illegitimate. That means he’s invisible.
Being invisible is one thing the two guys have in common. One is a bastard, the other is the son of a murderer and people would prefer to pretend they did not exist at all. Their relationship got off to a rocky start, but their initial encounters were the beginning of a solid bromance.
- It’s a friendship/partnership and you could say they are at the center of a “Co-Prosperity Cooperation” effort.
Na Hye-won, is a young girl struggling because of her mother’s debts. When she crosses paths with Han Tae-O and Kang In-Ha, she decides to get involved with their “business plans”. She has ambitions too.
- Their relationship is the beginning of a love triangle.

As you can see lots of reviewers have published ratings. This shows how much K-drama lovers are interested in “The Impossible Heir”.
My personal rating is 9 out of 10 stars.
Let me break down my rating.
- First of all, it earned 1 star, right off the bat, just for the soundtrack.
- Second, 5 more stars for the acting. Lee Jae Wook did not disappoint. The rest of the cast were good too.
- Third, 3 stars because I liked the theme and wanted the heirs to overcome! WHY? Because there is no such thing as an “invisible” or “illegitimate” human being. I am so sick and tired of babies ~ who did not ask to be born ~ being born into this world and having people slap a “label” on them and constantly beat them down telling them they are unworthy! As if! Every person on this planet is VISIBLE and LEGITIMATE!! (Yeah. I’m preaching just a little bit.)
