Norman Reedus Wants Silent Hills Team to Still Collaborate on Something
When Silents Hills was announced, it was met with much joy and anticipation, especially since it was going to be headed up by Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima, with Norman Reedus as the main character. Sadly with its cancellation, that was never fully realized. However, despite the game itself not happening, Norman Reedus is confident that the team behind the game will work on something together in the future. He tells IGN:
“I’m super bummed that that happened back in Japan, but I have faith. I have faith that we, the three of us, can do something else.”
One of the reasons behind this faith is that the fans were incredibly amped for Silent Hills, and that excitement got him excited as well. Reedus added: “The internet buzz about [Silent Hills] happening was so huge. I’ve never seen anything like it; petitions with a hundred thousand people that signed it, petitions to please make it happen, that’s crazy. That’s a crazy fanbase for not just that video game but also those people making that video game, and for me to jump on that truck with them, I was like, ‘Holy balls. It has to happen. You need to do this.'”
When asked about what was actually fully made for the game, he wasn’t truly sure. “We did some of that photography with a thousand cameras pointing at you in a million different directions,” he said. “We did some things with them that might be – I don’t know if it’s on the cutting room floor. It might be in someone’s hard drive somewhere. We did some stuff for it, but we never got into the full story stuff. We were about to and that water balloon burst.”
Could this still happen? Well, Hideo Kojima may be up for it, but Del Toro noted that he probably wouldn’t ever try making a video game again. Maybe they can team up on something different in the near future…
